  1. I've had this one going for a while and its getting pretty good. As with all sites its a work in progress. www.linuxloader.com added - mystified
  2. Hey I have a how to on my site for getting the Nvidia drivers working. Check your XF86Config-4 file and be sure that glx is loading and also that the drivers listed is nvidia. The default is nv. I like installing from the install script form source. It works every time. Check it out at www.linuxloader.com
  3. Maybe I just don't get it, but I don't see the big deal about running Winex. I have got quite a few new users over to linux with that piece of software. The game designers will port games to linux when they can make money at it. That may be a couple of years in the future. But in the meantime I guess we are supposed to not play the games we would like too??? Thats kind of silly. I only run Linux, and I play all sorts of games. When I load them and they work under winex I send an email to the game company and tell them I am playing their game under linux; "Why don't you port it to make it easier??" If we keep at the game Companies they will eventually get enough email that they will take notice. All we need is one Hit game that will actually admit to porting to linux and the others will follow. Part of the problem is the grip that M$ exerts on the game companies. They are just now getting to support Mac, so linux may not be too far behind.
  4. I do hope you are running an Nvidia card with the latest driver. I play Diablo LOD also and I don't have aby problems. Works great with Point2Play.
  5. I usually set up both Pop3 and Imap. POP3 for mail clients(outlook, eudora, outlook express) and Imap for SquirrelMail. I use postfix for the MTA and I have never had any problems. I have been kind of busy using MDK as an Exchange 5.5 replacement for allot of clients. They love the ease of admin with webmin and the stability of MDK/Postfix. Then when I fire up Apache and Squirrelmail and they realize they can get mail from anywhere they are astounded. Those that were running OWA (Outlook Web Access) really love the SquirrelMail stability and speed. I haven't had a single complaint. and with 9.1 out its even easier to set up. In fact I get calls from clients that are wanting to convert all their servers to Linux. Most say they are so glad they don't have to reboot the mail server every morning(they were on exchange).
  6. Why don't you just set up LinNeighborhood to browse windows share. There is minimal setup. Choose your workgroup and your defsult user and thats about it. The smb client will scan for the shares in the workgroup as soon as you open LinNeighborhood. It is really easy. I used to use Xsmbrowser but I like Lin better. It is installed by default with 9.1
