  1. Hi to all. I think we can consider closed the topic. Im using an ethernet modem/router (not switch) with only one eth port and it works. Actually ive tried three diff models and all of them worked. Also for the Mandriva technical assistance all it's due to a particular hardware configuration. I would suggest for the ones have to deal with Libero isp provider in italy to disable the ipv6 protocol as suggested and taught in this forum and topic for avoid connection problems. Thanks to all guys! :D Ric
  2. Hi to all! I have two Sony lcd monitors. One is perfectly recognized by Mandriva with its code under MCC monitor configuration, the second reports nothingbut when i configure the ati x700 card it prompts me to choose which monitor is attached to the head#1 and which at the head#2. Trying to choose for the head2 a custom or a plug and play brings to an attempt to use but then it returns to one monitor only. Is there a how to for configure two monitor under Mandriva here? I think im missing some steps coz during the boot both are working. One is attached through a dvi-dvi connection while the second through vga-vga. Thanks, Ric
  3. I ve tried a simply eth modem and it works perfectly!
  4. Honestly i dont consider it as informatic Ok so ill move to this irq check under /cat and also moving away the scsi. I'd like to remove it, load an evaluation version and see how it reacts, if it wont work i think i could say it's the motherboard.
  5. More or less like mine, but i use the scsi. Ill check the irqs, maybe under windows was working due to a diff irq handling.
  6. Ahh thank you! I had this test in my mind to do it yesterday eve but didnt know where in Mandriva see the log of the interrupts. So i went on working using the ifconfig so do the same purpose. Ive to use the scsi coz it drives my LVM hdds... :)
  7. Sorry i always forgot to report ive a scsi controller a 29160N which ive seen yesterday it itakes the irq11, always. If i plug two nics one jumps in irq 11 driven there by bios but, using only one i obtain a more normal situation where the nic is on irq10 and scsi on 11. For a while i thought it could be this the problem but when i kept everything with its own irq nothing changed.
  8. I already did it with Ubuntu live cd taken out from Chip IT magazine :) But it's the same. At this point i think it's really and hardware issue.
  9. It's phased out and ive already the latest... This is the motherboard anyway: Aopen AX4B-533 Tube
  10. Hi, ive borrowed a router from a friend of mine, a dlink. I connected it, switched on and i got the same problem as usual. about the router isnt possibile to have doubts coz as been deattached from a win machine and connected through eth to mine. It shows the led for the attached nic but not possibility to bring it up and ping the router. Im considering to simple use a eth modem or to do a check with another motherboard. Cheers, Ric
  11. Ciao! Here i am. I did but same...uff...ok the way to be sure to see the nic seen by the router (in the meaning that the realtek everytime i switch on the pc has its nice led up on the router but ifconfig-ing it shows the ip but not the so wanted word RUNNING), is to disable it in the bios. Then to load linux, then reboot, enable and set it again in linux. Once is up i can reboot billions of times and everything is ok but not switch off. Why do u want to switch it off btw ppl could ask me?!?
  12. Yep today i will do these bios checkings. For now ive used the Load Default option. About the PnP ive only the voice Resources Controlled by...and i can choose between Manual and ESCD. If Manual inside the IRQs i can have PnP or Reserved showed. Which is i say reserved i dont even know if Linux can use them properly. Will it?
  13. Ahh! That load optimised!   Sorry i thought something inside the dram timing, all ok. Mine is home build too.
  14. I know exactly what you mean. I work in a software house, but at home i want linux. Till now ive seen and tried: Solaris7, UNixware, Sco Unix, diff Windoze, i was in the TeamOS/2 Italy (yep the OS/2 ! :) ), some linux distro since the ugly Slackware 3.2! I want Linux coz i use Mathematica and another program and data and all the rest MUST be stable and reliable. Where is Load Optimised in your Bios? Ok mine isnt new but i dont remember this entry.
  15. Seems so to me too. But why Windoze was instead able to make it work? Ok i know the reasons could be many but i dont like to know that WinXp was able to make it work.
