  1. I have installed cpufreqdand it became worse, the cpu temperature never goes less than 53C (by compare before it was 44-45C). I thought may be the problem is in config, so can you lavaeolus post here the etc/cpufreqd.conf file, because I have tried to configure it by myself but no luck. Cpudyn - I didnt find this module/service and rpm with this name. What is it? What is it responsible for? suspend-scripts suspend-scripts-force I dont know how to check are they running/loaded or not?
  2. I have investigated that my fan is turning off when the temperature is lower than 42C. When I have just turned on my laptop everything goes right the temperature from 56C (in a boot time) goes down to 42C (after booting) and the fan turns off its-self - everything is good. But when I start to work: FireFox, OpenOffice or whatever the temparature goes up to 50C with something and cpu cooler turns on, and after that even if I dont do anything (cpu is not loaded at all) nothing is in the memory, no software running the cpu temperature never goes down to 42C. It is about 44C or something around and fan never turns off, just becuz the "fan turn off temperature" is 42C. So the question is how can I change the fan shut down temperature from 42C. Or may be I can cool my cpu by some function/software. And I dont have a broadband Internet connection so I am not able to download any linux distr. This is the problem too, but not Linux problem. :D This may help me. acpi - loaded acpid - loaded Let me check others modules. And I have one more problem - My laptop wont turn off. It start the acpi-power-off script and freezes. What can i do? My laptop rebooting without any problems after I have corrected the lilo.conf. But shut down is a problem. Thank you guys for your replys. I really appriciate your help.
  3. I didn't try any other linux distribution, cuz I don't have it
  4. The thing is that I have alredy installed BIOS-upgrade and I did ACPI work on Mandrake 10.0 (my previous OS). Yes it was a pain in a ass but I did and I supposed that on mandriva 2006 the problem with ACPI is already solved. But what I have got - that in Mandriva 2006 this problem has much more serious decision and I cant do it by my self. No evolution only degradation.
  5. I have installed free mandriva 2006 on my HP pavillion ze4125, and my cpu cooler work very fast without stop (and bottom of my laptop is hot). Acpi shows me 73 C cpu temperature. I have cheked ACPI modules - every module is loaded (ac, battery, fan, thermal, video etc). After that I have checked /proc/acpi/fan/ and found out it is empty. What does it mean: - I dont have any fan recognized by linux - I dont have any management for cpu fan installed - Anything else? How can I configur my fan control? Or what should I do to slow down my fan. May be I need to configure trip_points, but I dont know how to do it.
  6. sorry in previous post I made a mistake. Use "linux nomce nopcmcia".
  7. Ok. Resolved. If "nopcmcia" option didn't help you try this combination "linux nomce no pcmcia" and after installation you need to add "nomce" into your lilo.conf. But unresolved problem with ACPI left. My fan is working very fast and noisy. It seems to me that problem may be in /proc/acpi/fan/ directory is empty in the same time directories /proc/acpi/thermal /proc/acpi/video /proc/acpi/processor /proc/acpi/ac ... etc are not empty. They contain some files with description of device work.
  8. I have tried "nopcmcia" options and nothing changed. When linux trying to "Enable PCMCIA card extension" the message appear "Kernel panic - not support or not found" I can read cuz it is written on white background with white font color. May be I use this command wrong but it is easy: installation explain to use any optins like "linux nolapic noapic" and I did the same "linux nopcmcia". Anyway thank you for your answer.
  9. I have got message "kernel panic" during installation of mandriva 2006 on my hp pavillion laptop. Last that I see on the screen is "Detecting PCMCIA slot". To finish installation I use "noauto" options which disable any hardware detection process during installation and after that installation completed without any error except - I need to install and configure evey my hardware (mouse, network, video, sound etc)by hand what is not very easy for me (I am newby in the Linux). But I did it and now I have got a problem with ACPI - you can see the description in other topic here "HP laptop ZE4125 ACPI problem". I think that the option "noauto" didn't detect my acpi and I am not able to configure it by my self. The question is: "Is there any other option for installation that disable detection ONLY of selected hardware not everything, may be I need to disable detection of PCMCIA slot" Any idea, guys?
  10. I have HP laptop model ze4125 with athlon xp cpu. I have istalled mandriva 2006 and everythings looks good except hi temperature of cpu arroun 70 C, cpu fan works really hard and noisy to cool cpu but nothing happend, the temperature slow goes up from 69 to 72 and cooler works harder and harder. I check acpi modules load by lsmod command and I see thermal, ac, button, battery ... etc every module already run. After I have installed acpid-1.0.4 rpm for mandriva 2006 and acpitool-0.27. After I tried to start acpid by сommand #chkconfig acpid on #service acpid start and evrything looks good again, except my cpu cooler which works hard I tried acpitool and it show me every info about laptop. So I think may be I need to configure acpid or acpi for my laptop but I dont know how. Guys help me pls with this issue cuz I cant run and I have no ideia what is wrong. PS: acpi is turned on the related problem is that I cant properly shutdown my laptop, after massage: "The system is restarting" I have got the next message "No reboot fixup find for your hardware" and laptop freezes anf to power it off I need to press power button some time - about 6 sec. When I turn off acpi in lilo (acpi=ht command) the laptop reboot without any problem.
