  1. Thank you very much for help. I can name my files in cyrillic now, the only thing is that all files that had been named in cyrillic lost their names, they just disapeared. This is a little bit strange. Previously while installation procedure i chose Russian as an installation language, but this time it was English, it seems that it affects Mandy`s configuration.
  2. Here is what i got after urpmi. [root@kim felikss]# urpmi xorg-X11-cyrillic-fonts The package(s) are already installed The following package names were assumed: xorg-x11-cyrillic-fonts Could you please tell how to allow UTF-8 from MCC.
  3. well, i tried, but there is no package with cyrillic fonts, i installed something general, but it didn`t work. what should i do?
  4. How make KDE 3.4 on M2006 display cyrillic fonts? [moved from Software by spinynorman]
  5. Well, after adding a symlink to '/bin' I`ve finally got what I want: after typing 'which java' it shows '/bin/java/'. Hope this is it, now java is system wide. Thank you so much. Anyway, 'export PATH' didn`t work out?
  6. export PATH="/usr/java/bin" If there's already an export command there, just add the path to the existing ones after a double dot ( : ). Add that either to a global startup script (in my case of Arch Linux: /etc/profile) so that all users can benefit, or to your users .bash_profile script, or... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Could you please describe the full expession, I tried 'export PATH="/usr/java/jre1.5.0_05/bin/" ' but nothing happens, system still does not see it.
  7. I`m stuck. Tried many things. This my second post regarding this problem. Please help, How to install JRE ? I run Mandriva 2006, GNOME, Opera 8.5.
  8. Dear Arctic, Thank you for a prompt reply. Really, I did all steps once again and it worked out well. Actually, first af all I removed native Mandy 2006 Ooffice (1.5 version), then - downloaded 'OOo_2.0.139_LinuxIntel_install.tar.gz' package, - unpacked it with 'tar xvzf OOo_2.0.139_LinuxIntel_install.tar.gz' command - copied from '/RMPS/desktop-integration/' madriva-menus rpm to '/RPMS/' - with root previlages from '/RPMS/' folder issued '$ rpm -Uvih *rpm' then restarted session , and found links to all Ooffice programs in GNOME 'Applications' menu. Thanks a lot. I`m using Mandrake more then a year and it was yesturday when I descovered 'Mandrivausers.org' and solved many problems quickly and easyly.
  9. Can not install Openoffice 2.0. After performing all steps described on official site nothing happens. openoffice is put in '/opt' directory and not recognized by GNOME. Please suggest how to get the latest Openoffice into my system.
  10. Thanks a lot. I removed '.gconf' and '.gconfd' folders and the error message disappeared.
  11. Every time when starting GNOME I`ve got an error message: 'There was an error starting the GNOME Settings Daemon. Some things, such as themes, sounds, or background settings may not work correctly. The Settings Daemon restarted too many times. The last error message was: Child process did not give an error message, unknown failure occurred GNOME will still try to restart the Settings Daemon next time you log in.' Please suggest what should I do, because I even reinstalled GNOME, but the problem still exists.
  12. OK, so after installation , when jre is in the '/usr/java' I have to add a PATH, so the system recognizzes it. How to add a PATH?
  13. Dear senior Mandriva users, please help. How to install JRE on Mandriva 2006. I performed everything what was described at java.com. But when I issue 'which java' in terminal it tells 'there is no java'.
