2.6.29-tmb-laptop-2mdv
Apr 3 16:18:38 localhost klogd: iwl3945: Wait for START_ALIVE timeout after 2000ms.
Apr 3 16:18:39 localhost klogd: iwl3945 0000:02:00.0: PCI INT A -> GSI 16 (level, low) -> IRQ 16
Any one got ideas of how to fix this...
It is on an ASUS...
I have tried I think every thing possible. except reinstalling completely..
-
type airsnort from the command line..
-
Dont know what type,
Fingerprint detection under the bois?
Fingerprint reader on the computer
libfprint for Fingerprint detection.
Stopping os being overvritten.. na not that i can think of.. unless you have bois password and no boot off CD.
Buy a kingston lock for the laptop they have siren types.
Set up ssh so you can access when the computer is powered up on the network.. Then you can turn the CAM on hehehe..
You could write a script that when it connects it auto checks a site for you and if it has a bit set,(Page uploaded) it takes a photo every 15 sec then uploads to a site and trys to send email.
You could pass it through TOR so if they have port 80 closed you still get the feed..

and i can see it in lspci.

from the other site try this
If yours does not list a device present, then you may need to explicitly instruct it to use the driver using this command:
ndiswrapper -a devid mrv8335
Replace "devid" with the PCI ID or the USB ID of your card, in the form XXXX:XXXX. To get those numbers, run the command lspci -n (for PCI cards)
we nee to find the full dev id of your card.
lspic -nn
the nn gives the number and name.
then type the command replacing the devid...
su
ndiswrapper -a devid mrv8335
modprobe ndiswrapper
iwconfig
try that..
getting late now here i will try to be about..
-
looks like your database is not correct go to this page and select the defaults for your computer then copy the lines into the terminal.
Using su of course
https://mandrivausers.org/easyurpmi/index.php
so once you have gone to the page you will end up with 4 lines like this
urpmi.addmedia main http://distrib-coffee.ipsl.jussieu.fr/pub/...ia/main/release with media_info/hdlist.cz
cut each full line starts with urpmi ends with hdlist.cz
open terminal Konsole, type su, type in password, paste line press enter and wait.. may take a while each line.
If you have a slow connection you may want the compressed version of this info it was a little check box before the last click. Press back. and try with the compressed selected.
good luck once you have done these four you will be able to try the other lines again.
Looks like you did exactly what you were meant to do. Your doing well as a starter..
the lspci was correct but i'm not sure what greg was looking for..
Also reading it further down the list the ndiswrapper is installed but it cannot see your device.
and i can see it in lspci.

This is the same card as the webpage we pointed you to..

I got it to work by downloading the source rpm
then extracted the source file
then used these options to get it to work correctly
./configure --with-ldap --prefix=/usr --sysconfdir=/etc --localstatedir=/var --with-ssldir=/etc/ssl/dovecot
then
make
then
make install
LDAP used to be by default but it is not anymore so maybe they missed the new option.
Just in case someone else has a 4hour headache like me..

to get the file from the command line type
wget http://www.marvell.com/drivers/upload/MV-S800374-00.zip
to unzip the file
unzip MV-S800374-00.zip
remember that Unixes are very case sensitive.

michaelcole, like i said, i am new on linux and you cant just expect me to do that in one hit...sorry. I'll have to go with what greg2 said. So greg2, what is a "terminal or (konsole, if you're using KDE)"? I have no idea what it is. How do I open it? Thanks, and sorry for me being so dumb lol. On XP im just fine, but linux, like I said...im new =)
AHH real new..
ok
Start menu
System
terminals
terminal program
OR
goto
Start
Run Command
now type in
konsole
Now type in
su
now type the root or administrator password when it prompts for it.
Now you can do all those commands above.
No problem being new we all were one day..
-
Not done it before but this is the start based on what i have read.
based on this
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/WifiDocs/...etgear_WG311_v3
open a console
type
su
type in your root password
urpmi -v ndiswrapper
now get your file from
http://www.marvell.com/drivers/upload/MV-S800374-00.zip
unzip it to a directory and go to that directory in the console still as root
cd Inf/WinXP_2K
ndiswrapper -i mrv8335.inf
check if it is installed
ndiswrapper -l
now you can try this
modprobe ndiswrapper
now
iwconfig
If iwconfig lists a "wlan0" network interface with a whole bunch of details, then it worked.
then they say try this so it works on start up.
ndiswrapper -m
Give that a try..

If you are trying to get real USB and sharing between the two sessions on the same box look at VMware.
The USB is only available if you have the guest additions on Virtual Box.
But the virtual box is fine if you need a system to test on your network with out all the USB devices.
-
Or you can type
whereis mcc
-
Had this happen before it had to do with a capacitor on the mother board being old and "Drying out", The opposite can occur also with an older board. Start thinking about a new computer.
-
Sounds to me like a kaffine problem, you have to look at what cased the signal event to cause the decorator to crash.
-
I have used PIC before and it was working well, but not done it for a long time.
The AVR i have been looking at for some other projects, but not tried programming or anything wiht the AVR from Linux..
Tell us how you get on it will probably make me decide to go the same way..
-
Have a look in the file it will have all the files listed in your system which are in its idea the wrong permission.
Some are probably world readable. If you dont want that change them and the file will be alot smaller
You can also go into the security section under MCC and change the levels for the each item individually.
You probably have bigger problems though do a
du -sb * | sort -n
This will give you a sorted list of how much space each directory is taking up.
Yesterday i did an upgrade and had a few core files created very quickly I had no space.
if you just want to make it empty quickly do this command
tail /var/log/security/sgid.today > /var/log/security/sgid.today
then you will only have the last ten lines in the file and the space will be instantly given back.. But you do have a problem to look at.
-
If the one in the office is the computer you are accessing from then you can add a rule in the file /etc/shorewall/rules and not log from that IP address, this will solve the amount of data being stored from that single IP. I would not turn off Logging as it helps you detect breaches and other events.
So if you are sure that the other IP address is secure stop logging that one only. IF it is not secure then run through the Log files when you can and look for and suspicious events.
Also it is good training so you will know what is normal and what is not normal in the log file when you do have a problem.
And learning how to read the log is always a plus for fault finding.
-
Sound worked for me straight off, no playing around with any settings.
I have 1GB and only use it for single application not a memory hog, so speed is fine.
Much Quicker that rebooting into windows then doing the work then rebooting to linux and having no ability to run your linux apps whilst in windows.
And music can play in amarok all the time no interruptions.

COOOLLLLL
love it got it working on my Firefox 2.0.0.8 and altered line 388 in the script
cmdLine += "~";
now i have previews which is the major thing that pissed me off... AH which photo which file...
Now me happpppyyyy
-
Only done it to two computers so far, Had a couple of little bugs, but it runs fine.
Some things are better i think but against 2007 spring.
No major reason to use 2008 yet.
The only 1 thing i still have to fix is the recording the TV for my programs. I can watch I did notice that the configure the card icon vanished, Maybe me.
But do like it i am writing this on Spring whilst my daughter is printing something on 2008 from the Barbie web site. And no complaints from her. (Just daddy watch me.)
The office is on 2007 now and no problems there.50 + computers. MCC and URPMI are my friends.
Is there a KDE version of Firefox I really hate the file browser.
At least Open office uses the KDE file browser.
Thanks Adam.

Virtual box at the moment runs a HD image only so windows cannot escape out on to the linux enviroment but.
If you set up sharing and other things then the virus or windows could attack the share.
Yes Windows will still get the viruses on the VBox.
I just use it as a dedicated box for one function like you doing your taxes.
I have one set up for my daughter for her Disney CD's
But i dont share between any of these "boxes" at the moment.
I also have 5 Other Distro's running in boxes for testing and checking things.
Hows Townsville nice and HOT, last time i was there was in 1990-1991, nice place.

Have you thought about sticky keys for him
http://www.faqs.org/docs/Linux-HOWTO/Keybo...sole-HOWTO.html
XFree86 supports an accessibility option which allows disabled users to type single-handed. With sticky keys enabled, the user can hit a modifier key (ctrl, alt, shift) followed by another key, rather than having to hold the modifier key while hitting the letter.
To enable sticky keys, first make sure the xkb extension is enabled (this is done during initial X server configuration and is usually enabled by default). Next, run the X server with the +accessx option. If you use startx, either run startx -- +accessx or add +accessx to the serverargs line in the startx script. If you use xdm, add +accessx to the appropriate server line in /etc/X11/xdm/Xservers.
It is also possible to enable X accessibility with some end-user utilities with a running X server.
Once X accessibility is enabled, press the shift key five times in a row to enable sticky keys. To disable sticky keys, either press the shift key five times again, or press a key while holding a modifier key.
XFree86 also supports Slow Keys, Repeat Keys, Bounce Keys and an audible bell. xkbcomp can be used to generate a .xkm file to enable these. The appropriate xkbcomp commands are listed in /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/xkb/compat/accessx.
This will give him the press shift then the next key.

Ahh
Check the /etc/fstab file
Try this create a directory as root on the zip drive and chmod the directory for rw i have this on a drive also before.
I cant think right now how to change it but i think it is in the fstab file.
-
As may have been mentioned before this is not the Mandriva Company but some one may be able to help you.
In the case of Open Office I think it is the Application that is having the problem with the Protocol not Mandriva.
Try to save the file in one of your directories under home then copy it to the ZIP disk using Konqueror.
