Relic2K, it is better that you edit your original post ("Edit" buttom at the bottom right) instead of posting 3 instances about the same topic. Do you still need help with your hardware? I didn't really understand your last question. sincerely, Darkelve

Hey don't shout at me, not everyone knows! ;)

Well, problem solving is usually best done by process of elimination. If you don't play 3D games or have need of 3D, then just pick the generic "nv" driver instead of "nvidia" driver. Launch XFdrake (I think it is called that) or go to Mandrake Control Center and go to Hardware -> Monitor (or a similar section) and switch the "nvidia" driver in the list with the "nv" driver. - If your problem is solved, we can assume it was probably the video card driver - If your problem re-occurs when using Skype, it is another problem somehow related to Skype - If your problem re-occurs when NOT using Skype, it is a problem related neither to Skype nor your graphic card drivers. And it is typical that during a presentation or showing something, things go wrong... it happened to me a lot as well; Murphy's law, twice as probable with computers ;) Darkelve

What the man said.... :D This is by far the easiest way :D <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yes, but maybe he doesn't know what it is... the wire looks like the square plastic jacket... RJ45 connector or something I think it is called that is plugged in into most telephones today. There should be a connector both in your PC and your modem. It looks something like the picture below:

Belgacom? Is your provicer Skynet? You can usually find out your main board (motherboard I presume - 'moederbord') in your paper documentation or on the CD that came with it.

It sounds like a bug in Skype, really. Although I'm surprised it would lock up your computer. Does this only happen when running Skype? Another possibility is that the problem lies with the nvidia driver, that this made your system lock up. For me (I've got the same card as you do) these haven't always been too stable, with my PC randomly locking up. I would either try to install the latest drivers from the nVidia website, OR (if you don't use any 3D programs or games) then use the "nv" driver. If you experience other random lock-ups like this, likely the video card is the problem.

Hi, can you post the contents of /etc/X11/xinit/xinitrc here?
-
Do you want a shortcut on your desktop or in your KDE menu? Also, are you sure the 'command' points to the right file?
-
Well it should work. But maybe it would be easier for you to install either Mplayer or Ogle. You do realize you can still ask questions here even if you don't use Mandrake, right? That's one of the reasons we have a "other distros" forum.

ScummVM... a rather straightforward way to actually play some adventure games on Linux... there are a few freely available as well (Beneath a steel sky, flight of the amazon queen, ...)

I stickied this because I feel it is sometimes forgotten or overlooked 1. if your problem is solved, please report back and say so. The moderators will mark it "solved" in the topic (sub)title, so it will be easily identifiable for the moderators as well as the board users. This way they can move on to other posts and people with the same problem can easily spot which posts were resolved. Besides, everyone likes to get a 'thank you' from time to time. 2. If you found out the solution by yourself, please post the details or post a link to where you found the solution if you have the time to do so. You can help out other people immensely this way. If it is a very common problem, it could be added to our Faq/Howto section as well. By remembering these small things, you can help in a small, but significant way.

Never played it... wasn't that something similar to Wonderboy (only much better and more modern)?

Here are a few threads that deal with this card on the nVidia Linux forum (yes, they have a Linux forum): http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/archive/in...hp/t-38066.html http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/showthread...ighlight=6600GT http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/showthread...&highlight=6600 Darkelve

If you have an iPod and use it intensively, you might want to take a look at Crossover Office You have to pay for this product but it will probably give you the best iPod/iTunes support available for Linux ATM.

Darkelve replied to Darkelve's topic in Command Line, Kernel and Programming
Hey, don't worry about this, I got it solved at www.webmasterworld.com Topic is now irrelevant, I guess. Darkelve -
Ah, sorry. Reason I asked is, I had similar problems in Mandrake 9.1 (and Mepis as well once I think), and for Xmms changing the audio interface plug-in did make a difference. Although I couldn't really explain what was wrong... might be similar, though. What audio plugin do you use for xmms? Since Adam seemed to have better experience with it, I thought I might wait for his reply... only it wasn't a reply to your problem... didn't spot that. You might try mpg123 from the command line and see what you get. Personally I can't make much out of it, but this might also be interesting? http://www.euronet.nl/~mailme/index4.html Seem a bit old though. Also, there's a thread about Soundblaster Live on Linuxquestions.org: http://www.linuxquestions.org/questions/sh...15&pagenumber=1

I've got an XML question. Or rather, an XSL(T) question. This is the XML: <nieuwslijn> <artikel id="1"> <titel>de nieuwslijn</titel> <datum>25 november 2004</datum> <inhoud>Dienstregelingen en wedstrijd oudejaarsnacht beschikbaar vanaf 6 december</inhoud> <internetadres>http://www.delijn.be/nieuws/.#oudejaarsnacht</internetadres> <omschrijving> <titel>Dienstregelingen en wedstrijd oudejaarsnacht beschikbaar vanaf 6 december</titel> <datum>25 november 2004</datum> <subtitel></subtitel> <paragraaf id="1">Vanaf 6 december 2004 kunt u op deze website terecht voor de dienstregelingen en de wedstrijd voor oudejaarsnacht.</paragraaf> </omschrijving> </artikel> <artikel id="2"> <titel>de nieuwslijn</titel> <datum>26 november 2004</datum> <inhoud>Tentoonstelling '100 jaar elektrische tram' nog tot 9 januari</inhoud> <internetadres>http://www.delijn.be/oostvlaanderen/evenementen_elektrischetram.html</internetadres> </artikel> <artikel id="3"> <titel>de nieuwslijn</titel> <datum>3 december 2004</datum> <inhoud>4 december: betaalstaking in Oost-Vlaanderen</inhoud> <internetadres>http://www.delijn.be/nieuws/#staking_ovl</internetadres> </artikel> </nieuwslijn> This is the XSL(T) stylesheet: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="ISO-8859-1"?> <xsl:stylesheet version="1.0" xmlns:xsl="http://www.w3.org/1999/XSL/Transform"> <xsl:template match="/"> <div id="newscontainer"> <h1><xsl:value-of select="nieuwslijn/artikel[@id='1']/titel"/></h1> <div id="news"> <p id="newsitem"> <a href="{nieuwslijn/artikel[@id='1']/internetadres}"><xsl:value-of select="nieuwslijn/artikel[@id='1']/inhoud"/></a> </p> <p id="endnewsitem"> <a href="{nieuwslijn/artikel[@id='2']/internetadres}"><xsl:value-of select="nieuwslijn/artikel[@id='2']/inhoud"/></a></p> </div> <div id="btimage"> </div> </div> </xsl:template> </xsl:stylesheet> You can see that in the XSLT stylesheet, I have to specify each article number (artikel[id=x]) seperately. But I would like to write the code so that the page will 'walk through' these values. These are the steps I want to add: 1. Walk through array "artikel[id=x]" until end of document is reached. 2. Last item: a) Code of the last item has to differ slightly: <p id="endnewsitem"> instead of just <p> B) + contain the extra code " </div> <div id="btimage"> </div> " This is necessary to signal the end of the items in the list and draw the blue line underneath the last item. 3. Stop processing if end of document has been reached A block of ASP code makes use of this XML and XSLT files to generate the corresponding block of code for the yellow news container at the top right of every page. E.g. see http://www.delijn.be/nieuws/ <%'Load XML set xml = Server.CreateObject("Microsoft.XMLDOM") xml.async = false xml.load(Server.MapPath("/pathto/nieuwslijn.xml")) 'Load XSL set xsl = Server.CreateObject("Microsoft.XMLDOM") xsl.async = false xsl.load(Server.MapPath("/pathto/nieuwsoverzicht.xsl")) 'Transform file Response.Write(xml.transformNode(xsl)) %> Darkelve
