  1. Thank you very much for that link. I hope I can get my site up and running soon. I'll provide a link so you guys hopefully can check to see if anything major is wrong. Thanks again
  2. Doesn't anyone reply here? I need your help guys.
  3. PHP has a nice control panel? Thank God. I have Apache running on my computer but I have no idea how to configure it. The http://localhost works but I don't know how to replace that page with my own, or how to make sure other people can't search my entire computer for files. Where are all the config files for Apache on my computer? Help please.
  4. Does anyone know of a program that installs and monitors these things? I have been reading and reading for weeks and I just cannot figure this stuff out. Who knew that running a small webserver could be so hard? If there are no GUI's, does anyone know of a nice tutorial site for these things? I've searched the net extensively, but nothing is well written. Why can't Linux be as simple as Windows? Someone help please!!!
  5. I just took a quick tour of your website. Do you use Webmin? Do I need to be logged on as root to run the server? Also, if I register a domain name, all I need to do is change the name in the config file? Don't I need some kind of authentication?
  6. Thanks. Another question... where do I place html pages so that Apache uses it as part of my entire page? Sorry if that sounds complicated. How do I add pages to my webpage? Like get rid of the test page and use a real one that I wrote?
  7. I am an extreme noobie and I would love to have a GUI interface to help setup, configure, and maintain my webserver (well soon to be hopefully) for Linux. I really feel lost on how Apache, MySQL, and PHP work, and I feel like breaking my computer sometimes. Man Windows was so much easier.
  8. Someone help me please!!! I'm a newbie and I don't want to be one forever.
  9. Ok, so I installed Apache, PHP, and MySQL from the installation menu at the beginning of Madriva LE 2005. I know that these things are on my computer, but how do I run them? How do I set them up to work? I'm so used to the Microsoft point and click method. Please help me configure these things. Thanks
  10. Hello to all. This is my first post and I hope someone can help me out. I'm recently been converted to Linux, and my distro of choice is Mandriva LE 2005. I want to run a small webserver off my Cable line and have read that apache is the way to go. I've also heard that configuring it for Linux can be tedious and difficult. Please prove those people wrong. Help me out. What do I need to do to successfully run Apache, and eventually PHP and MySQL? Thanks, Jameson
