    KlamAV

hello, when scanning with klamAV, what is the significance of under the heading in klamAV "name of virus found" it lists 5 files as: Zip.exceededFilesLimit and the "status" for each as Loose. it asks to quarantine these files. thanks [moved from Software by spinynorman]
  9. thanks for replies, i will stick with Proxomitron, since iam familiar with it and hopefully can get it going via WINE.
  10. hello, does anyone know of or use a local HTTP proxy for filtering garbage. something like the great Proxomitron for windows. or has anyone used Proxomitron via wine.
  11. thanks, it seems selecting a few different sources in urmpi solved the problem.
  12. when using mandrakeLinux update (for security, bug and normal updates) or installing software(urmpi sources) iam getting lots of: "missing signature (couldnt open file)" i dont continue with the installation although iam pretty sure it would be ok to do so. had no problems a month or so ago. whats the cause of this? is this like the file isnt "signed" or something?
  13. ahh the debate, stealth vs closed
  14. is there a ipconfig utility in linux?
  15. ok, now it makes sense. thanks for replies...........
  16. hi, thanks for replies. still confused if i use the software management tab, then the update button under the MCC. i get a list of >>Updates<< with choices for securtiy updates, bugfixes and normal updates. if i understand, these will update what i already have installed on my system? if i use system>config>packaging>mandrakelinux update i get the same choices (security, bugfixes, normal updates) but it says >>software packages update<< whats the difference between the two?all iam trying to do is keep the OS and installed apps, most from the install dvd up to date. ive only installed 2 other apps that didnt come with the install dvd. i have configured my urpmi sources
  17. hi, when i update via rpmdrake, (mandrake 10.1)i recognize some of the items in the list like kde, kaffeine etc.. which i select and download. some things i have no idea if i should download them or not. how do you know which to select and not select for download? should i just get everything? does a "package" only install itself if needed?
  18. hi, is there a ipconfig equivlent in linux? [moved from Software by spinynorman]
  19. great, thanks for replies--- i will use amarok for mp3 playing it looks like mp3 are already associated with amarok and kaffeine. i found the file association panel under the KDE control center.still learning.
  20. thanks for reply scarecrow. --woops-- i was trying to associate xine with a folder on my desktop that has all my mp3 inside. so when i open the folder and pick a mp3, xine would launch to play it.
  21. mandrake 10.1, KDE. installed xine about a week ago. must have changed some file associations or something somewhere. when i click my mp3 folder xine is launched and will play a single song then stop, but i cant close it. it just sits there, the windows wont close (they minimize) cant right click either. this only happens when clicking my mp3 folder. the only way to eventually get rid of it is to reboot. clicking my drives, floppy and trash bin from the desktop also launches xine! ok i just associated my mp3 folder on the desktop with amarok by right clicking then open with, now my drives, floppy and trashbin launch amarok..
  22. seems to happen with all the KDE screensavers, except the scrolling text one, although i didnt try each of them. i have a nvidia chip based card.
  23. anyone have a solution for screensavers not working? use mandrake 10.1, KDE. they display fine using the test button, but will only launch a blank screen.
