  3. Hello everyone, I would like to know about Webcams that are supported on linux Mandriva 2005 LE. I have a Genius Videocam NB which is supported by the sn9c102 driver, this is a v4l2 driver so I can only use it in gnomemeeting cause I do not know another application with v4l2. I want to buy another Webcam, but I would like to make sure it will work first. thank you.

Devries, I cannot find the /dev/v4l2 If I do a $ [piure@localhost ~]$ xawtv -hwscan This is xawtv-3.94, running on Linux/i686 (2.6.11-6mdk) looking for available devices port 69-69 type : Xvideo, image scaler name : ATI Radeon Video Overlay /dev/video0: OK [ -device /dev/video0 ] type : v4l2 name : SN9C10x PC Camera flags: capture Do you have any idea why Mercury Messenger is not able to see the camera? If I use the JMF wizard it says there is no video capture device present. regards.
  5. Devries, I finally installed JRE through URPMI and mcnl repository. The Webcam wizard says every file was found. Unfortunately my webcam is a Genius Videocam NB which has a V4l2 driver. I could make it work on Gnomemeeting after a lot of struggle . Does Mercury have v4l2 support? or will I have to get a new webcam  ?? Regards,
  6. Devries, I extracted the files at my home directory but it was no good at all. I can enter Mercury, but if I go to Global Settings---->Webcam-------->JMF Wizard , it says VidConf-libs.jar file found.: Passed VidConf-libs.jar in classpath: Passed JavaLibs-linux.jar file found: Passed JavaLibs-linux.jar in classpath.: Passed Native library files for Linux found: Failed So It cannot find the Native Linux Libraries. In the WIKI for Mercury messenger there is an instruction which I think is the key and I do not understand. I would really appreciate if you could have a look at it http://www.mercury.to/index.php?page=Wiki&...ibraryLocations I am trying to do Option 2 with no success. PS: I hope you have liked Chile. Regards.
  7. Sorry, But I cannot find the /usr/java directory (as I mention above). Should I create the directory? Does that mean I am missing to install something? Should I look somewhere else? Regards.

  10. Hello everybody, I installed Mercury Messenger in Mandriva 2005 LE. It is supposed to have webcam support but I need to unzip some files in the ${JAVA_HOME}/lib/i386 directory. Which directory is that? I did a $echo ${JAVA_HOME} but I had no answer. I hope somebody can help me. Regards.
  11. Problem solved!!!!! After rading your answers I kept on reading and realized I was under Open Sound System. So I did not have many options on Kmix. I changed to ALSA and Kmix offered me a lot more options. There I could do what you told me to. Now I can hear my voice on the speakers and the person I am Skyping with can hear me also. Thank you very much for your help
  12. Where can I do all those settings? I am a Newbie so I would really appreciate if you could include more details. I installed the aumix, but I cannot configure the mic to record. I can understand the idea but don't know how to take it to the practice. Regards,
  13. Hi everyone, I recently installed Skype under Mandriva LE2005, and the mic is not working. I can hear everything but non of what I speak is heard by the other person. When I call echo123 to test, the message I try to record does not work at all. When I speak through the mic my voice goes out the speakers. Can anyone tell me which are the settings for the mic to work???. Could it be that the mic is not supported??? All kind of help will be truly appreciated. Regards,
  14. Hi everyone, I am trying to use my genius webcam (Genius Videocam NB 100K) under Mandriva 2005 LE. I allready loaded the module which is sn9c102. The device and vendor are correctly recognized when I list the usb devices: [root@localhost root]# lsusb Bus 003 Device 001: ID 0000:0000 Bus 002 Device 002: ID 0c45:6001 Microdia Bus 002 Device 001: ID 0000:0000 Bus 001 Device 001: ID 0000:0000 In hardrake the webcam and module are correctly recognized. Still the camera does not work with gnomeeting or xawtv. With Mandrake 10.1 it did not work either but I thought it was because of the kernel which has to be 2.6.10 or greater. Now with the new kernel it still does not work. anyone has ever used this camera?? or can help me please?? I have been trying to make it work for months!!!(but I will not give up) Regards,
