  1. Huh, actually Loki ceased to exist a LONG time ago. I got a copy of the game from EBay =P. But yeah, they dont update or offer support anymore.
  2. Hello =). I installed SC3K Unlimited from Loki games and patched it with the 2.00a patch (i think that was the ver) then I ran the game with LD_ASSUME_KERNEL=2.2.5 file:/mnt/win_j/SC3KLinux/sc3u Ok, the game does open, the intro plays etc. When I am about to actually PLAY (like when I click Start New City or Load City) the game crashes and gives me this error: ----------------------------------- fcntl: Invalid argument fcntl: Invalid argument BUG! (Segmentation Fault) Going down hard... SimCity 3000 Unlimited 2.0.955a Built with glibc-2.1 on x86 Stack dump: { 0xffffe420 0x822343f 0x40ca1712 0x40cc4f2f 0x40cc353c 0x40cc3394 0x40cc4451 0x40cc10f4 0x40ccb431 0x40d209bd 0x40d3f101 0x83742c3 0x81548af 0x4084d660 0x4084ee95 0x820ec27 0x820f7f5 0x820f78d 0x82d9c2b 0x820b88a 0x832679f 0x8328715 0x83292e4 0x8259f89 0x8269398 0x8259d78 0x8358f82 0x8356b62 0x835c7d4 0x83592b5 0x835924e 0x8153291 0x4019031b 0x8144ca1 } Please send a full bug report, along with the contents of autosave to: support@lokigames.com Unable to execute loki_qagent - exiting --------------------------------------------- Anyone has any clue about why this is happening? Thanks for any help! Btw, I am running Mandrake 10.1.
  3. Hello! I am trying to compile a program, but it asks for the QT Headers and Libs. I downloaded the QT-devel libs, and they are correctly installed, still I tried again and it didnt work. I ran the configuration file with ( ./configure --with-qt-dir=/usr/lib/qt3 --with-qt-includes=/usr/lib/qt3/include/ --with-qt-libraries=/usr/lib/qt3/lib/ ) that comman, still didnt work. The error it gives me is the following (as stated in the log): --------------------------------------------------- conftest.cc:2:21: qglobal.h: No such file or directory conftest.cc:3:26: qapplication.h: No such file or directory conftest.cc:4:21: qcursor.h: No such file or directory conftest.cc:5:27: qstylefactory.h: No such file or directory conftest.cc:6:34: private/qucomextra_p.h: No such file or directory conftest.cc:7:8: warning: "QT_VERSION" is not defined conftest.cc:8:2: #error 1 conftest.cc: In function `int main()': conftest.cc:12: error: `QStyleFactory' has not been declared conftest.cc:12: error: `QString' has not been declared conftest.cc:12: error: `null' undeclared (first use this function) conftest.cc:12: error: (Each undeclared identifier is reported only once for each function it appears in.) conftest.cc:12: error: `create' undeclared (first use this function) conftest.cc:13: error: `QCursor' undeclared (first use this function) conftest.cc:13: error: expected `;' before "c" configure:22015: $? = 1 configure: failed program was: #include "confdefs.h" #include <qglobal.h> #include <qapplication.h> #include <qcursor.h> #include <qstylefactory.h> #include <private/qucomextra_p.h> #if ! Please check your installation! -------------------------------------------------------------------- And I am extremely sure I have it installed. Any clues guys? Thanks for any help! 4. Here am I, annoying everyone again! This time though, I have 2 minor problems, and Ill list them rite away!: 1) liba52.0. didnt satisfy dependencies. I am trying to install Cinelarama (the program to edit video =P) and VLC, and they all show me that error. I dled a new liba52, which is a DTS or similar thing decoder. Still isnt working. Any clues? 2) Where is the Wine Config file? I installed the latest version and I cant find the config file anywhere. I want to see something in the file, because when I run SimCity 3000 on Wine it asks about a CD, and I kinda lost that (no...its not a warez thing >_>). In Windows it NEVER asked for a CD, and when I run it in Cedega it doesnt ask for a CD either, but there is a problem in Cedega that doesnt allow me to save in SC3000 and raises a exception problem and the app closes. IF anyone knows a fix for the Cedega problem, then I would need no help for the Wine file. So, I hope someone can at least answer one of those questions =). Please!! Oh and by the way, I am running Mandrake 10.1 with KDE 3.2.
  5. Well, I havent really ever installed KDE so I cant give you an exact how-to =P. (Above I said I reinstalled KDE, actually I meant to say I REINSTALLED MandrakeLinux, in other words did a clean install). Sorry there. But, I guess you could: 1) Reinstall KDE (and install GNOME at the same time) by booting the PC with the MandrakeLinux install CD, and select "Upgrade to 10.1" instead of New Install. Not sure if this will work, possibly wont. 2) Make a new clean install of MandrakeLinux, and this time make sure to select GNOME from the list. *Will work 100%* 3) Go to System, Configuration->Packages and from there select Install Software and install GNOME from there and POSSIBLY reinstall KDE from there. 4)The same process as above but instead of Install Software go to Update Software and update KDE if its available there (not sure if KDE is there though, never done that myself). 5) Build the new KDE 3.4 (Google KDE for the exact URL). If you see the board some people have had success and others havent, so try at your own risk. 6) Get the new Mandriva Linux Limited Edition 2005 =P (Havent tried that yet). So, there I leave you with 6 options, select the one better suited for you (and see they work, because frankly I have only done like 3 or 4 of the above options =P). If you would ask me, I would just do a Clean Install of Mandrake. Easier, but you'll have to get the programs you downloaded again =P. Hope I have been of help =D.
  6. Well, then try and post the results. You know, GNOME is better suited for older PCs, it has less eye candy than KDE so it can actually run a bit faster. I would recommend you try it as well.
  7. Well, are you runnning KDE? If so, you could try login into a GNOME desktop and see if Konqueror opens from there. If it does, then the problem could be KDE. Trust me, I once had a similar problem. Reinstalling KDE did the trick and all worked like a charm =).
  8. I would recommend you use MPlayer instead it runs the same files RealPlay does aside from others like WMV and AVI. I have problems with Realplay 10 too. Just open a terminal, log in as root, and urpmi mplayer. If it says package not found, go to the Easy URPMI link above and follow the steps by adding a contrib, plf and non-plf mirrors. Then urpmi mplayer. After it downloads, I would recommend you run urpmi mplayer-gui for a graphical interface. Thats all that i can think of right now, hope it helps =).
  9. Well, after many days fighting back, the problem has been finally solved! What was to blame? The NVIDIA GeForce 2 Mx400 card. In Windows I had no problems until a day ago when the same syntomps appeared on Windows. I plugged the card out and used the built-in graphic system...and no problems. On both of the OSes. I really want to thank ALL the guys that helped me here, especially Adamw =). You really are a techie ;-). Thanks a lot and Ill be sure to hang around here and when I have enough knowledge help other guys the same way i was helped. Thanks a LOT!
  10. Well, going to try the stuff you told me cwhobbes. This is because the motherboard is around year 2000 I think, since I saw the logs and it said the BIOS of it was too old or something like that. Anyway, I am trying that and Ill edit the post if it works or it doesnt. *Edit: It looks, a problem ocurred. I did the exact settings as you hobbes, and when I rebooted my PC it stopped in Calibrating Size of something or similar thing. Thing is Mandrake wont boot. I tried to reinstall the boot loader but the problem is there. Failsafe worked but I have no clue on how to fix that from there. So...I am now stuck on WinXP till I fix that =P.*
  11. I am a Linux n00b as well =P. Well, I was thinking of maybe trying Fedora, but it doesnt have an application installing tool like Mandrake or Debian have. I wouldnt like to forget MDK yet, its the best distro. Right now I am on the ugly WinXP because I kinda got annoyed of it crashing on me nearly every 20 hours. Does anyone else have a similar problem? Anyway, since I like to solve these kind of problems I am going to be on it until i fix it. Could anyone guess if installing the NVIDIA driver would do fix it (it seems like the problem is the X-Server since the actual kernel is running, so the display manager must have the fault)? Thanks for the dedicated help! This place rocks here =P.
  12. Well...my PC's from 2000, so yeah the BIOS COULD be a problem. And Mandrake never said about incopatible hardware while installing, but...which distro do you recommend thats user friendly?
  13. Well, I did a fresh install (deleted everything) and the problem is still there. Maybe its an overheating problem? I NEVER shudown the PC...but still, WinXP works. Maybe software? This is driving me nuts but its interesting lol.
  14. Well, so far Mandrake has not crashed. A good sign =). If it does I will do a repair install (which so far I have no clue on how to do...just put CD1 and select Repair install rite?) and I will let you know the results. Thanks for the amazing help once more =D.
  15. Well..I actually thought about doing that but RIGHT now it would be problematic since I am working on other things. But...can I only repair the files of CD #1? I thought i needed to install everything all the CDs over again. But, that means all the stuff I have installed will be deleted right?? Like all the urpmi stuff? Anyway a few minutes ago I took a picture of a weird problem (another one): http://www.eternal-anime.net/otherimages/snapshot2.jpg. Even though its hardly noticiable, there are some gray lines forming an X that pass over the wallpaper. I am extremely sure this is not part of the wallpaper since I've had that one for a few days and those lines were never there, as well as I have it for WinXP as well. I am guessing maybe the Display Manager is having problems. This is extremely confusing >_<. But I like to solve this kind of stuff =). Another thing to note is that Mandrake has not crashed in the last 12 hours. Anyway, thanks for all the answers and the support. You guys really rock. I guess this kind of support is what sets Mandrake apart from other distros :-D.
