I recently installed the new compiled kernel provided by MDE (2.6.21).

Unfortunately, after this installation, my system became very slow and unable to be an efficient multi-task environment (Firefox + anything else give an incredibly slow system).

I decided to come back to the last stable Mandriva kernel (2.6.17-14). My system is now as efficient as before.

I use Mandriva 2007.1 (spring) plus MDE packages. This is the first time I am disapointed by a MDE package.

Did somebody else try this new kernel ?

I am unsue if this is the right place to ask or if MDE even accepts rpm requests, but if so, I have noticed that Mandriva does not have any rpm's for mediatomb. personaly I own a ps3 and am highly intested in using my mandriva box to serve music and videos to my PlayStation3 . I doubt I am the only one that would be intrested in this particular package. I've enjoyed much succsess with mde and was hoping to get some help in this area. Thanks for any and all help

Getting problems since a rpm upgrade to mythtv 0.20 getting Mythtv-setup MythFrontend core dumping.

Installed seemed to go OK - wondering if there are any specific pre-requesities from the flac MDE build.

First time I ran mythtv-setup it converted the database OK and mythbackend works fine and is still recording the existing scheduled stuff. Because mythbackend works fine, it leads me to think it's x/qt/graphical problem, but don't really know.

But - When I run mythtv-setup, it creates the x-window, builds some cached icons, then crashes.. no other errors that I'm able to identify.

Any help appreciated in how to identify further why it might be happening - is there an enhanced debug setting for mythtv-setup, or frontend?

any way of analysing the core file?

I also upgraded qt3 to the mde version at the same time as the myth-tv upgrade... wondering if I should push it back to the MDK standard version.. just clutching at straws really. (but struggling to do that cleanly)

I've attached my list of qt & Myth packages below - if it helps.

I already had to recover my libdbus file as with the MDE version too many other things broke... (but mythtv didn't work with the mde version either anyway)

Cheers!

I am trying to get sharp-musique up and running on my machine. To get sharp-musique working I need a working version of gtk-sharp2. After attempting to install the current 2006 version and failing, I downloaded the gtk-sharp2 source rpm (using the standard 2.3.91 src rpm from the 2006 Repository).

My machine is setup with standard Mandriva 2006 and then updated against the standard MDV 2006 update source and then updated against the PLF and the MDE sources.

I do not have a problem re-building the RPMS but I have come across a problem when installing the binaries. It is coming up with a message "gtk-sharp2-2.3.91-6rjm.i586 (due to unsatisfied mono(System.Drawing)[== 1.0.5000.0])". This is the same message that comes from the original package.

After furhter investigation I discovered that the libmono-runtime-1.1.15-5.mdk2006.0.mde.i586.rpm from http://www.mde.djura.org/2006.0/RPMS/ provides (rpm -q --provides) the following components:

mono(mscorlib) = 1.0.3300.0
mono(System) = 1.0.3300.0
mono(System.Data) = 1.0.3300.0

mono(System.Web) = 1.0.3300.0
mono(System.Windows.Forms) = 1.0.3300.0
mono(System.Xml) = 1.0.3300.0
.....
libmono-runtime = 1.1.15-5.mdk2006.0.mde

and when I looked at the files in the rpm they are:

/usr/lib/mono/1.0/System.Drawing.Design.dll
/usr/lib/mono/1.0/System.Drawing.dll

I went looking for a source RPM to investigate the problem further, but I could not find one.

My only other course of action it to remove the mde version of mono (this is my current line of attack), or upgrade to 2007 RC1 (and potentially spend the next 2-3 months getting everything right, as I want it.

Could someone help out, please?

Hi,

I was wondering what your plans are with Mandriva 2007. Are you going to upgrade and then provide a similar service?

I also noticed a distinct lack of gnome-based apps in your collection. Personally, I don't use KDE, so KDE apps are realively useless to me, but the libraries you guys provide are up to date, so I can compile and install the latest apps that I want to install.

Keep up the good work.

I have removed any 3.4.2 rpm. Only problem I have found is that when I switch icons using the Mandriva "Configure my Desktop" (kde control center) the window crashes. The icons change, but the "updating system" bar has disappeared and the window stops responding. No other functions are affected except icons. Thoughts?

kde-icons-crystalxp

Where is the kde-icons-crystalxp rpm? None of the packages work. MDE doesn't have the libraries up there, so I disabled it, but it still doesn't work. URPMI freezes while trying to install. :( I would go back to the original one, but I'm not sure how, since when I try to uninstall and reinstall cups, the new install errors out the same way. If I try to reinstall the library it complains about (foomatic-db) it says I have to uninstall my whole kde install, which works just fine. Anyone have any pointers on how to get this working?

New kde-3.5.3

Hello,

I recently reinstalled clean Mandriva 2006.0 (official) and then patched to 3.5.3 from MDE but now I get no KDM even though I selected it in MCC - it defaults to XDM and then won't log into KDE- gets stuck in a loop at the login screen. I used GDM and it will login to KDE and give a proper GUI login. Any suggestions how I can get KDM back up and running? If I go into failsafe from Lilo then init 3 then startx I get to KDE.

As a side note: my sound and ARTs isn't working either.

First, I'd like to thank you for your great work! I've just discovered MDE after wrestling w/ Mandriva cooker's instability, and it's great! Great work!

A couple of programs I used extensively from cooker was the latest versions of beagle, kino and kino-plugins. Is it possible for me to kindly make the request that those programs are back-ported to MDE?

Again, thank you for your consideration.

new xorg with updated unichrome added

There is actuallay 3 different version of unichrome implementations at the moment.

1. the one in xorg, currently not working

2, the one in http://sourceforge.net/projects/unichrome/ that is missing support for via xvmc harware acceleration

3, http://www.openchrome.org/ that supports both 3d and xvmc hardware support

I have built current xorg-x11-6.9-cvs20051127 rpms for mandriva 2006 with the openchrome version added.

I have also built the Mesa-6.4.1 that is included in xorg sourca and alse a dlms-drm built from the drm source included in xorg source.

This will provide the version of Mesa and drm that xorg is actually built against.

I have never understood why mandriva only provides an old version of Mesa = 5.

since both mesa and drm development moved to be part of xorg cvs years ago.

is it only natural to let xorg spec build both mesa and drm , like all other distros except

mandriva does.

my xorg also has radeon tv_output fix, sis 180905 driver from http://www.winischhofer.at/linuxsisvga.shtml and mgadriver 4.2.0 it does also contain fix for greek kb.

there is also an rpm for the The SiS Display Control Panel (sisctrl) for the sis driver.

The rpms is available in my repo at http://www.mde.djura.org/index2006.0.html
