- Make use of autorun.inf/autorun.ini files

- Run native Linux, Windows, ScummVM and other emulated games using either the command line UI or the Graphical UI (games that are not native requires third party software).

GFSGL will auto detect all options in it's configuration file.

It defaults to using cedega/winex3/cvswinex/winex/Crossover Office/wine as Windows compatbility layer but can be told to use any command.
Description: Legends is a fast-paced first-person-perspective online multiplayer game. The game is designed to take advantage of the beautiful environments available from the Torque engine it is based on, while still offering the breakneck pacing and variety of styles available from such classics as Quake and Tribes.

Gameplay is not the strafe-strafe-jump-strafe-shoot-strafe-run-like-hell style a lot of games espouse; the addition of a jetpack adds a third dimension of mobility that makes skill, forethought, and restraint necessities to winning.

Team sizes are ideal between 10 and 15 on each side, and the network code allows 56k upwards to play smoothly. Game type offerings range from the classic Capture the Flag, Deathmatch and Duel to our own new types, e.g.. 'War'.

Plenty of maps are provided by us, but the beauty of this game is its customization possibilities. Mission creation has never been easier, with a stable, full-featured editor integrated into the game engine itself. Skins, models, and effects can all be modified by the end-user with commonly available tools. The game has an Autodownload feature which means you never have to leave the game to join new user created Client-Side and Server-Side missions.

Notes: Legend is still in Beta phase.

Description: Choose to be a commander and you will play an in-depth RTS managing the stronghold, or choose to be a warrior and you will play an intense game of first person combat. With the creation of a new gameplay genre, RTSS (Real Time Strategy Shooter), Savage expertly redefines the first-person shooter and real-time strategy genres by combining elements of both into one cohesive experience. As the commander in RTS mode, you will tackle resource management, develop a robust tech tree, plan your assault and lead real human players into battle. As a warrior in action mode, you will master many unique weapons, powerful units, and siege vehicles to fight a fast paced battle.

Set in a unique fantasy world eons from now where Humans and Beasts battle violently for their very existence. Choose to fight on the side of Humanity, armed with science and technology, or take the side of the Beast Horde, masters of nature and magic. Each race has its own style of battle, its own leader, and its own way to victory. Which side are you on? (Taken from The Adrenaline Vault).

Notes: Can be a bit difficult to install, but if you know the basic stuff in Linux, it shouldn't be a problem. Also the lack of Single Player can make it difficult to enter a multiplayer game.

Description: UFO: ALIEN INVASION is a strategy game featuring tactical combat against hostile alien forces which are about to infiltrate earth at this very moment. You are in command of a small special unit which has been founded to face the alien strike force. To be successful on the long run, you will also have to have a research team study the aliens and their technologies in order to learn as much as possible about their technology, their goals and the aliens themselves. 'UFO: Alien Invasion' is heavily inspired by the 'X-COM' series by Mythos and Microprose. The first game of the series, 'UFO DEFENSE', became a classic and, in our honest opinion, is one of the best games ever made. 'UFO: Alien Invasion' is neither a sequel nor a remake of 'UFO DEFENSE'.

Warring factions in the year 2155 pit cybernetically-controlled mech-style machines of war against one another in savage team-based combat on a dark 3D Earth. Ferocious squad vs. squad action takes place as you and your teammates struggle to hold ground and complete objectives against enemy forces.

One of Dark Horizons: Lore's many compelling features is the sophisticated online tracking of player data and history which opens ladders, tournaments and rankings to the Lore gamer.

Description: Nexuiz has been in development for 3.5 years by a team of amateur developers lead by Lee Vermeulen. It is a 3d deathmatch game made entirely over the internet. The purpose of the game is to bring deathmatch back to the basics, with perfect weapon balancing and fast paced action, keeping itself away from the current trend of realistic shooters. It uses HFX textures by Evil Lair, and currently has 17 maps to frag in. With an advanced UI, the user can select between 15 different player models to use, with an average of two skins for each, and can connect to our master server to play people from all over the world.

Description: Privateer Remake is Space simulation game of the original Privateer which was an old DOS game (one of the greatest game at the time). Trading, mission, buy better ships and/or upgrade.

<from HappyPenguin.org>Privateer is a classic old DOS game in the tradition of Elite, where you start off with a beat up spaceship and a couple credits and you have to trade and work your way up. Gameplay is free-form, there is a plotline but you can choose to ignore plot missions for as long as you want. Random mission generators give you plenty to keep you occupied if you just want to do your own thing. This is a pretty faithful remake of Privateer using the VegaStrike space sim framework, but with OpenGL graphics, new missions, more fixers, and the ablility to extend the game and add more content. The Privateer Remake crew is currently looking for some Linux users to test out their game.

Description: The player can create bus and rail connections and transport passengers, mail and goods in and between cities and industries. Even passenger ferries and oil tankers are included in the game. Goods are produced by industries from raw materials, sometimes over many steps of intermediate products. I.e. coal and iron ore are needed to produce steel in a steel mill. Oil may be transformed to plastics in a refinery. Plastics and steel are used to build cars by the car industry. Finally the cars are sold in the cities. Now they need gas to run, which also will be produced at the refinery.

All goods need to be transported. This is the players task. Transport the goods and let the industry live up. But be careful not to destroy your environments.

The surface world is ruled by the Empire, and has been as long as anyone can remember. As long as you followed the rules and kept quiet, it was a good life. But stand out, not fit in, say the wrong thing, and the punishment was swift, sure, and horrible. You were cast into Exile, a huge series of caverns far below the surface of the earth, there to live out the rest of your days in misery.

Now, at last, an escape route from your underground prison has been found. You are the brave soul chosen to lead the first expedition to the surface. You hope to find a way for your people to return to the light of the sun. Instead, you find a ravaged world, rapidly being devoured by mysterious plagues of monsters. You will have to act quickly. If not, the underworld will be the only place left where humans can live.

Some players may dislike the game's character-based graphics. Newer versions of NetHack feature tile-based, somewhat prettier graphics, but I decided to go even further. Thus, I decided to create a new, graphics-intensive look for NetHack.

Description: NetHack is a single player dungeon exploration game that runs on a wide variety of computer systems, with a variety of graphical and text interfaces all using the same game engine. Unlike many other Dungeons & Dragons-inspired games, the emphasis in NetHack is on discovering the detail of the dungeon and not simply killing everything in sight - in fact, killing everything in sight is a good way to die quickly. Each game presents a different landscape - the random number generator provides an essentially unlimited number of variations of the dungeon and its denizens to be discovered by the player in one of a number of characters: you can pick your race, your role, and your gender.

Description: Neverwinter Nights (NWN) is a computer game set in a huge medieval fantasy world of Dungeons and Dragons. This role-playing game (RPG) puts you at the center of an epic tale of faith, war, and betrayal.

As a player, you are able to choose what skills and abilities you will develop as you voyage though the complex and dangerous fantasy world of Forgotten Realms. Be a deadly and dangerous Rogue moving through the shadows using stealth and secrecy, be a scholarly Wizard and wield powerful magic against your enemies, be a hulking Barbarian whose lust for battle is matched only by his terrible rage, be an armor-clad Paladin who protects the innocent and vanquishes his foes, be a crusading Cleric who heals the sick and defends the helpless… be all this and more.

Neverwinter Nights allows you to create your own worlds. This revolutionary game will come with all the tools needed to construct your own unique lands of adventure. The Neverwinter Nights Aurora Toolset allows even novice users to construct everything from a quiet, misty forest or a dripping cavern of foul evil, to a king’s court. All the monsters, items, set pieces and settings are there for world builders to use. But do not stop there; construct traps, encounters, custom monsters and magic items to make your adventure unique.

But the Neverwinter experience is not just for one person- adventure with all your friends. Neverwinter Nights can be played online with up to 64 friends, all sharing in the adventure. You can organize and run your own adventures through the role of the Dungeon Master and control all the monsters, creatures and characters your friends meet as they journey on their quest. A powerful piece of software that is included with Neverwinter Nights, the DM Client, allows nearly unlimited control for running your own adventures for your friends.

Neverwinter Nights…endless adventure!

Notes: Includes compiled SDL libaries as well as sound libaries

Description: You are on a quest to retrieve the Sword of Fargoal, which lies between

levels 15 and 20 of a dungeon. The dungeon levels are populated by an

ever-regrowing number of different monsters, the deeper the dungeon level,

the stronger the monsters. By retrieving experience points and collecting

treasures, your own strength will increase as well, while finding your way

down through randomly generated dungeons. With the help of different items

and all sorts of spells, and by escaping various kinds of traps, you

finally can find the Sword of Fargoal in the middle of a labyrinth - which

doesn't mean your done, no way, now the game only really begins. A timer

is started, and you have to get back up to the dungeon entrance again

before time runs out. This isn't as easy as it sounds, because dungeon

levels are newly created and look different every time you climb up or

down, and are now full of monsters waiting to steal the sword from you -

in which case you have to climb down and find it again - but the timer

isn't reset.

Description: Pingus is a clone of the popular Lemmings game. The concept of Pingus is simple: save as many Tux-like pingus as possible. You'll have to make the pingus climb, dig, parachute, and block toward the exit in your quest for pingu salvation. Pingus has tons of worlds with jungle, space, and Christmas themes, detailed backdrops, and tons of animated cuteness. While Pingus is based on the idea of Lemmingstm, it has included some other ideas, which weren't presented in the original Lemmingstm, like the worldmap or secret levels, which might be familiar from games the Super Mario World and other Nintendo games. We have also a few new actions, like the jumper which weren't presented in the original game

Notes: I was able to install from for the MCC "Add software" but I do have a few "non-official" sources like plf, so I'm not sure if it's part of the official urpmi repositories. Try it that way first if you're uncomfortable installing from source

Reviews: graphically pleasing. If you like Lemmings you should like Pingus.

Description: Epiar is a space trading/combat role playing game for Linux, Windows and FreeBSD. It is released under the GPL and is written in a modular fashion so you can create your own scenarios, ships, upgrades, and more! It is very stable despite the version number, which merely represents the progress of original features implemented. Completely free, driven by code from the Epiar development team and artwork from Epiar players.

In Epiar, you begin as a shuttle pilot in a galaxy generally ruled by anarchy, with few stable governments and numerous rebel factions. You start your adventure off doing whatever you want, but generally trying to save up money for a new starship, and your adventure takes off from there.

Description: Rif of the Fox Tribe has traveled far from home with his companion Rhene to compete in a puzzle contest. The night before the contest someone steals the wondrous Orb of Storms, an ancient relic of the Humans, and Rif is accused of being the thief. Rif is able to convince his accusers to give him a chance to find the real thief and recover the Orb. Two warriors are assigned to assist and guard Rif in his quest, Eeah of the Elk Tribe and Okk of the Boar Tribe. In addition Rhene is held hostage by the Boar King to ensure Rif does not try to escape.

Your goal in Inherit the Earth: Quest for the Orb is to guide Rif on his adventure, find clues to locate the real thief, and solve challenges along the way. You can have Rif talk to Okk, Eeah, and other Morph characters that are encountered during Rif's travels. Rif can pick-up items he finds and give these items to others. Some will only trade information for precious items, although what a Morph considers precious can vary greatly.

With your help, Rif will be able to clear his good name and rescue his beloved!
