Hi, I'm very new to mandrake and linux, so please give me simple instructions .. I installed mandrake 9.1 last week on my PC, with dual boot (the other OS win2000). I messed around and installed RH9 -but the info on the web about networking linux with win2000 is far better for a newbie under mandrake. So I decided to install md9.1 again

Now when I try to do a new reinstall of 9.1 every thing during the install goes fine, but on the re-boot the start up gets to "loading module dependencies" and stops, after about 5 minutes the screen goes blank.

Thinking it was something I did, I cleaned out the HD partition and did a install again - still hangs on dependencies. So I loaded RH9 - it works fine - so I got a copy of mandrake 9.2 and loaded it as a new install - still hangs on "loading module dependencies" So I cleaned out the partition, even tried with a new harddrive - no luck - still hangs on "loading module dependencies"

Any ideas - I would like to use Mandrake as there appears to be heaps of stuff written in plain english for a newbie.

thanks
craig

Try to remove your usb devices.
I had the same problem with an old Philips webcam.
Removing it solved the "resolving dependencies" issue for me.

bvc
disconnect the usb printer.

If that doesn't work, during boot (verbose mode) you'll see 'press I for Interactive boot' or something, so press
Shift I
for 5 or 10 seconds and see if you can figure out what it's hanging on.

Thanks all, for your assistance. It was the USB mic I use with naturally speaking that was causing the problem.
