Switched from kde4 to Gnome and now I find that all the openoffice apps have no icons on the toolbar
Tools-options-openoffice-view-icons in menus is selected.
Any ideas?

I have them under Applications --> Office in Gnome for me

No, I mean the toolbars in openoffice itself. There are no icons, just text like save, print, justify etc.

I have them as well. Go to View, then Toolbars, and make sure you have Formatting and Standard selected.

Yes, that's selected. But there are no icons, just the descriptive text.

Maybe delete one or all of these directories:
CODE
drwx------ 3 ian ian 4096 2008-09-26 16:49 .ooo-2.0/
drwx------ 3 ian ian 4096 2008-10-18 00:56 .ooo3/
drwx------ 3 ian ian 4096 2008-10-03 11:08 .openoffice.org3/
and then run OpenOffice again to create new configuration files and see if it's any different. I couldn't replicate your problem.

Have deleted them and restarted and still no icons. Only had first 2 directories btw.
Have removed Ooo and deleted the directories and am now reinstalling.
Cheers.

Just logged into kde4 and the icons are there.
Logged back into Gnome and no icons in Ooo.
Summat's going wrong somewhere!

Do you have compiz running, or 3D desktop effects? If so, you might try choosing no 3D desktop effects and see if that makes a difference.

My gnome install is a minimal install so will do a task-gnome install with another 430Mb of packages and see what happens.

I'm just drawing at straws here.
Looking through the following
ftp://distrib-coffee.ipsl.jussieu.fr/pub/...a/main/release/ I see there is an
openoffice.org-gnome-3.0-0.rc2.2mdv2009.0.i586.rpm package. I assume that is installed?
Chris H
Oct 18 2008, 12:18 AM
Yup, just installed that David.
I'll leave this running overnight to install the rest of the gnome stuff as it's getting late.

Damn that was hard work when it shouldn't have been!
Clutching at what straws remained I installed these packages et voila!, more icons than I can shake a stick at.

A thing to have in mind is that KDE looks integration has been removed in OOo3 (unless MDV is using a custom solution). Keeping the old looks setting from OOo2 could lead to problems.

Aaaarrrggggghhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!
After going through a new install recently I've discovered that I have no icons in Ooo.org under Gnome!
All files added as previous posts but no joy.
Any thoughts?

Panic over!
Just installed all the openoffice.org-styles I could find.

The gnome-icon-theme is installed by default even if you install KDE, the draktools are all GTK and they need some gnome libraries which requires gnome-icon-theme as a dependency. hi-color is always there too.
I think Chris nailed it, it's the -styles packages, its odd though since a style package was already installed (the crystal one) as we saw from the rpm -qa | grep openoffice command, but maybe the crystal style doesn't play nice with Gnome (crystal being a KDE centric icon theme).
Anyway Great job solving this Chris : )

Just done it again on a fresh install from lxf mag's mandriva disk.
Installing three extra openoffice.org-styles has again solved it.
Spooky.
