I have a hp dv 6000, when I run lspci a network controller does not appear in text.

I have run easy-urpmi and don't know what to do next.

My wireless worked with (gag) Vista. I have over written the drive with Mandriva.

Your time and attention is greatly appreciated

Can you copy and paste the output of lspci here, so we can take a look?

No broadcom? I have blcm;5? > install through mcc, no device for such _____? firmware?

Thanks for you time, brilliant!

scarecrow
Which Mandriva version are you using?
There's a driver for it in kernels 2.6.24+, which works quite well, but it does have some issues on 64-bit systems.
And anyway, the ndiswrapper approach seems doing fine for that adapter (likely Broadcom 4321AG, although HP changes hardware specs on the same model revision without noticing anyone...).
adamw
Yeah, the wireless adapter isn't in the list at all.

Is it an onboard thing or a PCI card or a USB stick or what?
David Batson
As a guess, you probably need to turn on the wireless switch.

I have an hp dv 6000, Mandriva spring 2008. The output was the same wth respect to swicth position.

How can I tell what kernal I am running, safe mode boot?

Thank you for your time,

Yes it is an internal broadcom wireless modem.

Thank you for your time,
Huilo
pmpatrick
Are you sure that's the complete output for lspci? It just doesn't look right. For example, I would assume you have an nvidia based mobile graphics adapter but I don't see that listed there unless I've missed something. In fact, I don't recognize anything that looks like a graphics card. Try running:

$ lspci -vv

That will give you more verbose output.

Also, using some of the gui configuration tools, try going into Menu>Tools>System Tools>Configure Your Computer which will bring up Mandriva Control Center(mcc). In mcc go into Hardware>Browse and Configure Your Hardware and see if your broadcom wireless card is detected.
hulio
Helllo, Thanks for the input. I did not see a wireless icon or anything in conig hardware. I did see PCI of nvidia in lspci. Here is the output of vv. I do see some nvidia lines?

Your thoughts and time are appreicated.

huilo

Weird.
Can you also give "lsusb"?
Some vendors are currently soldering USB wifi adapters on the mainboard instead of going for PCI/PCIe solutions.

Hello, here is lsusb

[hal@localhost ~]$ su
Password:
[root@localhost hal]# lsusb
Bus 001 Device 001: ID 0000:0000
Bus 002 Device 002: ID 15ca:00c3
Bus 002 Device 003: ID 09c1:1337 Arris Interactive LLC
Bus 002 Device 001: ID 0000:0000
[root@localhost hal]#

Is the wireless #3

Thank you
ianw1974
There doesn't seem to be any wireless card recognised by the system at all - at least from the info here. The lsusb, can you re-run again as this:

CODE
lsusb -vv

I've been trying to google arris interactive llc but nothing is coming up as to what this is, but perhaps the re-run of lsusb with the -vv will give us more info as to what it might be - perhaps fingerprint scanner or perhaps the wireless card, since it's definitely not recognised under lspci.

There does not seam to be any new info here either? It was working with vista. Thanks for your time,
