hello all!

i am a new user of mandriva. it really good to use & now its my default OS. but, i can't use my wireless modem (Huawei ETS 2058) in mandriva.
actually, it is a wireless phone set with a built-in modem of 230.4 kbps. it has a windows driver CD, but no mention of linux.
i connect this via data cable with my USB port (COM3). it works in windows, but not in mandriva.
mandriva can't detect this modem automatically. i tried so many times to enable it, but failed!

what can i do now?
is there any solution available?
how can i install & use this modem in mandriva?

plz. anybody help me.....

It's in a language that I don't understand and is not a simple procedure but it appears that this fellow got your device working in PCLinuxOS which is very similar to mandriva. Perhaps someone more familiar with that language and your hardware can decipher the technique used better than me.

Thnx for ur reply.
i understand this language, becoz i have a frnd who know it very well.
i will try it. i hope it will work.
but, how can i dial my modem?
i have no wvdial in mandriva.

You can install wvdial from the regular Mandriva repos.
But you can substitute it with any other dialer, GUI'ed or not, for example kppp or xisp (the latter is ugly, but full-featured and DE-independent).
The first time you MUST run the dialing utility as root.

I highly recommend kppp over wvdial. You can find it using Software Installer. Note that you should change the leftmost button in Software Installer from "Packages with GUI" to "All", otherwise you will not be able to find much of the software available directly from Mandriva.
