Microsoft has become a sponsor of The Open Source Census, a project started earlier this year that aims to track and catalog the use of open-source software in enterprises worldwide, the group announced Monday.

Maybe I'm just completely sceptical, but when I remember the patent thing, they were saying they wanted to sue companies using Linux that violated it's patents. So:
gives them all the information they need to complete their objective
I'm hoping it's going to be of benefit though with their involvement to help progress the Open Source movement in a more positive light.
