I was researching on how to patch the kernel, trying to install connbytes match, but to no avail.
What do you think i should look for?
Thank you

What you need it for?

I see you've posted just about everywhere on the internet .. smile.gif

You will have to build a kernel from source, and mandriva has never been particularly good at this.

here's a tutorial: http://linuxplanet.com/linuxplanet/tutorials/202/1/
here's the gentoo kernel guide: http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/genkernel.xml
here's a very generic howto: http://www.linuxdevices.com/articles/AT3855888078.html

you will need to patch your kernel before compiling it.

Why would Mandriva be worse than any other? I have compiled many kernels on Mandriva without problems. Never Mandriva's kernels, though; only kernels from kernel.org.

i think paul[1] references the fact that compiling the mandriva kernel source does not result to an identical kernel that is officially shipped for MDV. or the fact that MDV kernels are already applied with various kernel patches that patching them with something intended for a vanilla kernel may produce unexpected results.

[1] i never thought i would defend paul. its much fun to heckle him. 18.gif

ciao!
