Saw this on another forum. Take a min or two to sign the petition. Even if you don't care about Half-Life (2), at least do it to give linux another game; NATIVE linux game that is...

Actually Counter-Strike native port is much appreciated.
Playing Enemy Territory reminds me of the good old Quake 3 engine - which ET actually uses.

Well technically if Half-Life was ported so would Counter-Strike, since it is a HL mod. But to hold you over from any CS urges, try this cool Quake3 mod. www.truecombat.com
I've played it the past few days and it's pretty fun.

Native HL prt for Linux would be a really bad idea!! I'd never get any work done.

http://cgi.riblet.plus.com/Don't care about half life 2? How could you say that? it's sacrilege! I saw screenshots of the graphics and read about the gameplay engine. HL2 is going to be sick. I hope that it's ported though or else I just won't buy it though.

Late this year. Notice my signiture? Go forth and read any available interviews. It'll make you drool. Trent Reznor (NIN) said they keep pushing back the date because of new ideas / methods to make it the least pleasant place to be

Yeah, if they open-source Half-Life, I know these two guys who were porting MiG Alley that would probably be able to port it.

Tuxgames has it listed as the 31st of Oct 03, I would give it an extra month or more.

Yeah, if Trent Reznor says they're pushing it back, then they could keep pushing it back further than that. I'm going to order my copy from TuxGames when it's released so I'm sure to 1) count as a Linux sale 2) support my friend Michael and 3) get it in a DVD case.

My guess is no. It depends on if TTimo has any trouble porting it and such. I hope he could get it done in time, but I wouldn't hold my breath.
They'll probably just release a downloadable binary as they have in the past.
(Yet another reason I'll get it from TuxGames. They'll ensure I can install it and run it on Linux with no need for Wine or Windows.)

TTimo ?
Anyway - didn't mean to misquote Reznor, all he had said was they're trying their hardest to make it the most unpleasant place to be. Someone else (Carmack?) said they keep adding the cool stuff...
I don't think Reznor left, he probably just finished the soundtrack and went on his [merry??] way. He wasn't involved with sound effects or anything. They have a new guy devoted to sound (first time in id's history they have a guy just for sound) because it's in 6.1 surround!! <drool>

We have passed the 2,500 confirmed votes mark. Thanks to everyone who has signed the petition to date.
I understand that some people are having problems signing the petition. This is a known bug in the software we are using and is currently being worked on. Another news post will be made when this has been fixed. Please be patient.
How many votes people thik it will take to make valve atleast listen, and possibly port?

I assume you mean Trent Reznor, of NIN fame. I hope he hasn't, as he's an amazing musical artist...(well, when he wants to be atleast...which is most of the time

)
