Unless I'm missing something, the greatest trend in 2.22 is the replacement of the crippo gnome-vfs with the all new virtual filesystem, gvfs.
The above article mentions a lot of pretty insignificant things- but not this one, however.

Yet I don't understand why KDE and Gnome can't have a common use of some OS-level VFS, such as FUSE...

Epiphany with webkit is pretty awesome too. If they've completed their python support, then I'm going to have a lot of fun churning out some great extensions.

A vfs based on FUSE for ***alll*** known desktops would be awesome, for sure (already using smbnetfs and sshfs exclusively)... but for some reason, this isn't a solution of choice for both Gnome and KDE. The KDE vfs is mighty powerful, but I can't say the same for the old gnome-vfs... factly, this is the main reason I prefer KDE to Gnome (although my desktop of choice is XFCE4 with fuse acting as vfs agent).
