No matter what I choose - the clock always displays as digital.
I want the plain setting.

How do I make the change permanent?

Strange it doesn't take.. there should be a folder in your home directory/.kde/share/config with a name like clockpanelapplet...... it should say in there something like this:

Type=Plain

Do you mean that it changes to plain, but next time you login it's back to digital?
