ok my umask is set to 0022 and i want to set it to 077
i changed it in .bashrc in my home directory,
but i want to change it premantly,
how do i do that??

Setting this in ~/.bashrc will make it permanent -- it will be applied everytime you logon. If you want this also for other users on the same host , you are better off starting the control center, select the security tab and then start 'security level and audit'. The tab system options allows you to set the default ones for root (in the middle) and other users (last one at the bottom of the list).
The one thing to keep in mind before starting to fiddle with other options and security level is that you need to know what you are doing; it is possible to lock yourself out or make certain services inoperable.
