Hi,
For those who prefer a quick keyboard shortcut to grabbing the mouse, I now use katapult, a nice little tool who sits gently in the system tray and which can call any program you like just by typing alt+space, I find it very useful.

http://katapult.kde.org/

and to get the rpm go to :

http://www.mandrivauser.de/smarturpmi/ and add the mud-free rpms to your system,

Stef

You should be able to use alt-F2 with regular KDE panel anyway.

There should be an official Katapult package in Cooker quite soon, and probably a backport for 2008.

Hi,
The alt-f2 is not "intuitive", with katapult if you type fi he will already have selected "firefox" and "filezilla" for example.

True, but the Alt-F2 thing remembers what you've run before, so next time you go in, the already-run programs will be highlighted too.
Doesn't help much for the first time in of course, I agree.

Indeed, sorry to insist, but with Katapult you can also
-acces any of your web favourites in the same quick "intelligent" way
- you can do calculations (without opening kalculator) apparently even scientific ones
-finally you can open a song by its title if it's in your amarok playlist.

I think that's useful for people like me who are not used to laptop's integrated mouse pad, otherwise for desktop use, I m not sure...
