Help! I am in the middle of trying to do a HD install of Damn Small Linus on an old Satellite Laptop. I have the machine booted up off the DSL live CD and am in Cfdisk. The "Bash" screen currently looks like this:

hda 1 Boot Primary Linux Swap 254.99
hda 5 (Blank) Logical Linux 5749.48

The "Write" option is highlighted and beneath it it says :-

"Write Partition Table to Disk (this might destroy data).

I don't care if I loose the XP operating system at all but I do want to at least use the live CD on this machine. I have a feeling of impending doom - could someone please advise me on my next move. biggrin.gif

Repartitioning won't hold your system back from booting a live CD. So after you've backed up probably important user data you still may want to use, you can simply go on (i.e. let it write the new partition table and proceed) .

Thanks - I did and I now have DSL installed on my old laptop.
