having a great yet new time with mcnlive on usb

noted that could not use boot usb to save files when in live mode [booted from it] computer.gif

just noticed that while in knoppix i dont seem to be able to save files on this thumb??
[went through steps to mount and make writeable]

does that mean once your usb is set as bootalbe usb drive that you can no longer add files to it? mellow.gif

thanks

If you only have one partition on the boot usb key you need to be root to save normal files.
menu -> mcnlive-> filemanager su

--> under /mnt you can find the partition

For a second partition on the usb stick you can write as normal user

I don't understand what you mean with knoppix. and what problem knoppix has.

you can use the usb stick as a normal writable drive when you don't use it as bootable medium.

edit: MCNLive does not change the partitions on the usb stick or the geometry. the stick can be used (in non-livemode) in all OS which can handle normal mass storage devices, Linux, OS X, MS Windows, BSD etc.

what i meant was that when i tried to use the usb with another live cd distro it did not seem to work there either; perhaps your clarification in first reply will resolve my issue or maybe i just did something wrong; perhaps i was impatient but i erased it all and will start over as you describe above

will try and follow up with you

thanks a bunch for timely replies
