Hi,

As a mandriva user and a game addict I feel often a bit frustrated when I see that the best we can get with kiosk (which is not free) is xmoto... I used to play better game on my atari in the 70's!

Now, I fount that tuxkart was ok to relax between two updated of cooker, but follow that link :

and you'll find a game which is quite good for a freebie and is going to amuse me for a while. It is fully compatible with my MS-sidewinder precision pro which is even better!

Please, can we have an RPM for that sort of game to make our distro even more attractive???

If the spec file is included in the tar.gz which sometimes can be if the source includes it, but then again not always, you can use:

CODE

rpmbuild -ta package.tar.gz

but again, chances are it's prob not there unless the author has been kind enough to include. I've found it exists for other apps, like bind, courier-imap, and other things like this.

Why not drop a mail to the game's developers and ask them for an rpm?

Yup, no specfile

Would be good if they made an rpm, or at least just provide the spec file, then you can take care of the rest with the rpmbuild app. I've had it fail once though, when trying to use it for freeradius. Wouldn't work, but I could compile it manually without any probs. No idea why the rpmbuild didn't work, considering it does exactly the same thing - only automated.

Hi,
There is now an RPM available for this game, it s on a cooker repos but I ve tested it on 2007 ant it works fine!

It's in the normal repositories. If you've set them up, you should be able to easily install tuxkart with the "add software" tool or by using urpmi from the console.
