how to i install vmware in mandriva... i downloaded the vmware workstation and the player.. is it enough...?

Using the instructions provided by vmware at their site should work just fine. For vmware workstation, here is their install instructions page:

If you have vmware workstation, you don't need the player. The player only plays them, whereas workstation creates them.

VMware workstation isn't free, but you can get vmware server and use this in workstation mode, like I do at home. I use it at work, on two servers and it's great. And as I said, it's free
