Full Version: problem with KDE3.3.2 from 3.2.3 via Konstruct
MandrivaUsers.org > General Help > Software

So I've correctly ran Konstruct to upgrade from KDE 3.2.3. to KDE 3.3.2. And I've done the "export KDE=DIR...etc" stuff it told me too, and yet it still does not run 3.3.2.

All the KDE files are just sitting there in my /root/kde3.3.2 folder. I can run them from there, but is there anyways to actually INSTALL them?

THanks
devries
Mandrake uses urpmi to install software. KDE 3.3.2 is at Thacs (http://anorien.csc.warwick.ac.uk/mirrors/thac/index10.1.html urpmi.addmedia thacs.rpms http://anorien.csc.warwick.ac.uk/mirrors/thac/10.1/RPMS with hdlist.cz). Use that to install KDE.

Good luck

what would i run after having added that to urpmi?
devries
To begin with urpmi kdebase. After that whatever you want smile.gif. Look in the Mandrake control center, software install what you want to install.

Hi I added the location above but couldn't see a way to update kde - i looked and update and install in MCC and couldn't see it. I could see the rpms in the main directory but not the kde3.3 dir

Any ideas?
devries
Is thacs.rpms added as one of your repositories? What do you get when you type: urpmi kdebase ?.
eldacar
The hdlist.cz in the base directory does not contain the rpms in the subdirectories where kde 3.3 is.....
lets-eat-gary
Yes I have.

When I try urpmi kdebase with just the thacs rpm respositories selected i get this message

no package named kdebase

When i try it with all respositores selected (plf, contrib, DVD,etc) I get

everything already installed message

is urpmi gone bad?

Try again. remove thacs.rpms

urpmi.addmedia thacs.rpms http://anorien.csc.warwick.ac.uk/mirrors/thac/10.1/RPMS with hdlist.cz

Copy and paste this. I know it workd because I have done it myself smile.gif

I have done that - removed thacs.rpms and added again.

I still get

Everything already installed

Any ideas?

Try a different mirror. urpmi.addmedia thacs.rpms http://rpm.nyvalls.se/10.1/RPMS with hdlist.cz

Did that and then listed all the packages according to source in the install packages dialog and only the rpms in the main catalogue shows up....

You better use Cooker to get Kde 3.3.2
adamw
Cooker is not an upgrade source. It is an unstable development distribution.
