Yes, that's right! A new gnome theme site has been launched, and it uses the same code as kde-look.org!

GNOME-Look.org

Check it out. I'm already seeing some themes I don't think I've seen before. Start up your screenshot program of choice and post in the Show Off Your Desktop thread!

mmmm - themes!!!

Thanks for the link

I think the new website is a good idea, as the "updates" of art.gome.org were quite slow and the site didn't function for over 2 months now...
Although I work with kde and blackbox most of the time, I will take a look at gnome-look from time to time, just because I am interested. biggrin.gif

well there's a first for everything rolleyes.gif

I noticed that when I try the drag and drop with .tar.gz's it doesn't work, but with themes as .tar.bz2's it does... I don't know.
bvc
none/neither worked....and 3 gtk2 themes have crashed gnome forcing me to remame the theme so that the default will load. The themes keep looking for icon's that do not exist rolleyes.gif . Are they working for you? Have a feeling these were done in gentoo based on the screenies with the gentoo icons.
bvc
I didn't see anything that said these were distro specific nor have I heard of such a thing rolleyes.gif . Whoever did this obviously doesn't have a clue what they are doing. A shame.... zzz.gif
bvc
ok wait.....the icons are there.....but says they are not....which usually mean it can't......but why?....they are .svg icons that come in the theme.
HJ
I think you need to make sure that if your draggin in a gtk theme, you have the "control" tab selected
and for icons the icon tab, and for metaciy the window tab
bvc
no, to get them to show up I had to extract them. Getting them to work is another story.
I'll try this
CODE
[root@localhost root]# rpm -qa | grep svg

*cough rolleyes.gif
.themes/Fingel/gtk-2.0/iconrc
was
CODE
pixmap_path "/usr/share/themes/Fingel/gtk-2.0/stock"

is
CODE
pixmap_path "~/.themes/Fingel/gtk-2.0/stock"
so that got me further......they're all like that rolleyes.gif I guess I could move them to /usr/share but..... zzz.gif done for tonight juggle.gif
HJ
Yeah, I knind think that setting the pixmap path like they do is kinda stupid. Something that points to the relative directory would be better, so they could be installed in either one, like...
pixmap_path "./stock"
or
pixmap_path "$THEME/stock"
