Full Version: No shut down option on log out dialogue
MandrivaUsers.org > General Help > Installing Mandriva

Two problems:
I'm relatively new to LINUX.
I couldn't get MDK9.1 to set up any users after installation but MDK10.1 installed and set up the users OK.
I logged in as a user (admin) and attempted to install Samba server. It then insisted on me inputting Disk 4.
I tried Disk 3 but it ejected it and asked for Disk 4 again.
I logged out, logged in as root and did the same only to be asked this time to input Disk 3. Obviously I have that at hand.

Second problem is that I don't seem to have a shut down option on the log out dialogue boxes. The only way I can shut down is 'init 0' from the command line.

Before moving on to Mandrake 9.1 and 10.1 I had tried RH9 and had a shut down option on the log out dialogues.

Rob,

Welcome to the forum.

You can also shut down with:
shutdown -h now

For the shutdown option, I think you must log off X and then the shutdown option will be available.
Pzatch
If you have the computer automaticly log you into a user and gui then you get the option to shutdown from the gui.

If you login then startx then you only have the option of logging out back to the commandline.
