Hey, i'm incredibly Sorry if this has been posted before, if so, just close this down and post me to a link and i will be grateful, but i've searched and it seems it hasnt been answered.

I'm quite new to mandrake, so please be gentle wub.gif

I have downloaded Mandrake Linux 10.0 Official from Suprnova, and the Official Community downloads, which i got from the Official Mandrake Linux sites by browsing the mirrors.

So, i restart my Computer, go to bios, set it to boot from CD, and it boots from it. So i press enter to install, a load of text goes up the screen, and then it goes to a black screen, absolutely nothing can be done to make any kind of command whatsoever. Its a Bit like DOS, but with no commands.

So, I waited, and I pressed ALT and f1,f2,f3,f4 and it brings up other things, but still, they all dont really tell me much.. I left it for another 20 minutes, and nothing, but when the Screen first comes up it says randomt things such as:

CODE
(null) 36: unknown ``l '' Line.

and then i tried the Official, and the 36 changed to 42 wall.gif

I am Trying To dual boot this with Windows XP Professional, i know how to get through the DrakX, its just im absolutely clueless why this isnt booting to an installer.

I tried pressing F1 and then i typed linux, but still, the same thing happens.. Its strange.

I have checked the MD5 Checksums for the Official, and they are Correct >_> so, i dont know wether its my Computer or..

Edit - I will try Booting from CD2, then Switching to CD1, lets hope it works smile.gif

Try running the installer in text mode,

Hit F1, then type text and hit enter.

If that fails, try F1, then type

text acpi=off

And see if that works, if they both fail, replay here again

Hurray i got it to work! biggrin.gif

I knew i had some Wierd ass configurations on my Comp, so i typed in on the F1 prompt

expert noauto

It clicked, booted, installed worked, and now my Windows Works, as well as Mandrake Linux 10, so i are very pleasored XD

Although, the Modem And Sound card havent been supported.

The PC isnt mine, but the Person who wanted this wanted Mandrake on it.

The Hardware is a "Avance C97 Audio :|" and "SAMSUNG AHT-E310"

I found the Last one on a site called Linuxant, but the Program they gave me, didnt work on Linux :(

I'll google the First one now, but if anyone knows how i can get that working, it would be a huge help smile.gif

Ok,

COuld you please give us the output of "lspci -v" when you run it in a commandline or konsole.

For the modem, follow the instructions here:
