Can't find the answer to this one..excuse me if it's already been asked:
Problem: Dialup t home.
Solution: High speed at work.
So, I used to download upgrdes to fedora, install them in the /var/spool/up2date folder, then run up2date and away it would go.
Question: Where are the downloaded urpmi or MandrakeUpdate files stored?

its somewhere in /var cant remember but i do remember that urpmi deletes them afterwards. i have this problem too since i only have dialup. my best workaround is to download the packages separately and then install it via urpmi or rpm.

You have to run urpmi with the --noclean option to keep the updates downloaded locally. They're deleted automatically by default.

I think they're stored in /var/tmp, but I could be very wrong. Maybe someone else will know exactly where they're stored.

Been there as long as I've used URPMI. A little over a year. Don't see why it wouldn't have always been there since erasing them is an extra step.

If I remember rt it was there in 9.1 *cough* man urpmi
but it didn't work ....heh, I don't think it worked until the later updates for 9.2 actually...but I could be mistaken.

If you use urpmi with the --noclean option, the packages will be left in /var/cache/urpmi/rpms.

if pzatch is correct then either i am affected by what bvc said or maybe i didnt use it in 9.1? it took a long time for me to upgrade to 9.1 because of time constraints and i havent been using it that much (the whole computer, that is).

and now that i am enganged in fighting with my sucky telephone carrier (re: torture by dial-up), i dont think i will be having internet connection at home in the near future.

It was there in 9.1 (definately..... 100% )and 9.0 as well.
I remember being incredulous that I could actually use --noclean from the CLI when id spent ages at a friends house with my laptop and his DSL.

im having a memory fit here, i might be confusing urpmi with rpmdrake. does rpmdrake also have this option? heck, does rpmdrake exists on post-9.1 versions?

just some usefull/useless info.

when you do urpmi, the files get downloaded to /var/cache/urpmi/partial
There they stay till the all requested files are downloaded.
Only then, they get transfered to /var/cache/urpmi/rpms from where they get installed.

so, for whoever finds this intersting, you always can copy them to another location before they get deleted.
Ofcourse, you have to watch them all the time, which is not very practical.
