Apparently, the x server thingamabob doesn't work for someone I gave Linux CDs to.

It loads into memory but X never comes up, so the installation cannot commence. What do they do? They aren't very good with computers but I'm trying to get them to use linux in conjunction with windows.

at the first slpash screen press F1>then type;
linux vgalo

If that does work they'll have to try a text install?
linux text

They tried to do a text install but it would eventually keep telling them "no base system package selected"....
