I hope that somebody here can help end the madness!
OK, I downloaded the 3 9.0 CD ISO files and then I tried to burn the data that is in those ISOs to CD. After making a few new coasters, I looked around on the Web for an answer to my dilemma. I am having problems with CD1, specifically. By the way, I downloaded using Gtfp.
Here's what I found and what I've tried:
1. Tried the "cdrecord" utility, using the following syntax:
> cdrecord -v speed=6 dev=0,0,0 -data ./mandrake9_cd1_inst.iso
When this finished, I mounted the cdrom and saw the following files:
mandrake9_cd1_inst.iso
README
md5sum.90
This is not what I expected to see. I was hoping to see several files and directories.
2. I then tried using EasyCD Creator in Win2K. I created CD from ISO image. CD1 finished, I looked at the files, same damn thing!
I went ahead and burned CD2 and it worked fine :o . I see several directories and files, as I had hoped. WTF?
3. Back in Linux, I mounted the ISO file of CD1 that I had downloaded:
> mount -t iso9660 -o ro,loop=/dev/loop0 ./mandrake9_cd1_inst.iso /mnt/iso
When the mount command finished, I CD'd to /mnt/iso, and guess what? Only three files: mandrake9_cd1_inst, README, md5sum.90.
My questions are: Is the downloaded ISO file of CD1 messed up? I downloaded several CD1 ISO files, all from different mirror sites. Can they all be messed up? I doubt it.
I haven't tried to burn CD3 yet, but I'm hoping it will work. I just don't understand why, even after mounting the ISO of CD1, I don't see all of the files and directories that I should on CD1.
Any ideas?
I didn't have this problem with Mandrake 8.2 ...
Cheers,
Scott
