  1. devries, Is there maybe another setting or switch I'm missing? There is serious lag, about 1.5 - 2 seconds before I hear any sound in Enemy Territory. Is there a way to turn off arts or alsa sound in KDE, then run et? -SP
  2. Found somewhere to use a wrapper: artsdsp -m /usr/local/games/et Man, Let me tell you, I'd rather play without audio. There is about a one (1) second delay. Drives you up the wall. So, basiclly, sound is still an issue. Hopefully someone could help me out. I posted a message in the Games Section, we'll see if someone else has had this issue. BTW. Thanks for all you help. -SP
  3. Is that a switch when launching Enemy Territory? sh et artsdsp -m ? Below is what I get when I launch et ------- sound initialization ------- /dev/dsp: Input/output error Could not mmap /dev/dsp ------------------------------------ Sound memory manager started Sys_LoadDll(/root/.etwolf/etmain/ui.mp.i386.so)... Sys_LoadDll(/root/.etwolf/etmain/ui.mp.i386.so) failed: "/root/.etwolf/etmain/ui.mp.i386.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory" Sys_LoadDll(/usr/local/games/enemy-territory/etmain/ui.mp.i386.so)... ok Sys_LoadDll(ui) found **vmMain** at 0x49c13bfc Sys_LoadDll(ui) succeeded! Found high quality video and fast CPU --- Common Initialization Complete --- Thanks, -SP

But I'm running into some issues with the audio in ETWolf? any advise. Running: SY-KT600 DRAGON PLUS v.1.0 - MoBo On board VIA 1616 (Integrated AC'97 CODEC 6 Channel Audio Chipset) - Audio I can get UT'04 running great w/audio, :D AA's running great w/audio, :D ETWolf runs great, but no audio  Any Help Would Be Great!!!!! Thanks, -SP
  5. :D OK, I've check around the net via mb's nvidia mb's, and found this on nvnews.net: After making these changes I started to see other errors... Set NVAgp to "2", and the nVidia driver LOADED YES!! You guys RULE!!!! BTW: Strange thing UT'04 works just fine....ET has no sound. Great somethiing else to look into -SP
  6. FYI: Ran some commands, saved them to a text file and attached them to this post. dmesg > dmesg.txt dmesg.txt Linux agpgart interface v0.100 (c) Dave Jones agpgart: Detected VIA KT400/KT400A/KT600 chipset agpgart: Maximum main memory to use for agp memory: 941M agpgart: AGP aperture is 64M @ 0xe0000000 lspci -v > lspci.txt lspci.txt 00:00.0 Host bridge: VIA Technologies, Inc. 7. You think it has anything to do with the VIA KT600 Chipset? And no native AGP support for Linux? -SP
  8. I installed the driver without the kernel source, and it installed without a hitch. Remembered I had to install the kernel source for this install, so i figured it can't hurt. I urpm'd the kernel source 2.6.3-7 (matching whatever my kernel is, not the 2.4.ish) and reinstalled the driver. I also installed Mesa thinkin maybe that would install some lib that I'm missing. but still no luck. Any and all help is greatly appreciated. -SP
  9. Nope, Tried every combination of the above. nothing!! Please. I really don't want to use this machine in Win XP only, I would really love to be all Linux. BTW: I installed Suse 9.1 Personal. Same thing won't load the nvidia driver even when I force it to use the NVAgp - 2, 3 any and all combinations. I've been hackin (newbie, don't know if it's really hackin) for the last 3 hours. I'm really fried. -SP
  10. Wow, you guys here don't mess around here, super fast post, Wow!! In the "Module" Section below I remove the "#"'s Section "Module" Load "dbe" # Double-Buffering Extension Load "v4l" # Video for Linux Load "extmod" Load "type1" Load "freetype" Load "glx" # 3D layer #Load "dri" <- remove # #Load "GLcore" <- remove # And in the "Device" Section below I remove the "#"'s, also I replace the Driver "vesa" with Driver "nvidia", and still get the cannot load the GLcore module (EE)?? Section "Device" Identifier "device1" #BoardName "NVIDIA GeForce FX 5700LE" <-remove # Driver "vesa" <- replace with Driver "nvidia" Option "DPMS" #Option "NVAgp" "2" <-remove # EndSection Thanks, -SP
  11. Here is the XF86Config-4 file: XF86Config_4.txt Many Thanks, -SP
  12. xbob, Thanks for you help on this, but I'm still getting errors, now it can't load "GLcore"? Sound better, but obviously not working. here is the XFree86-4.log: XFree86.0.log.txt Thanks for all your help, this MB and all it's users are unbelivable. -SP
  13. Hey all, this is a long post, but tried to explain everything I did. I've been having a really hard time getting my eVGA e-GeForce FX5700LE, 256MB DDR W/TV OUT , DVI, AGP to work with MDK 10. I just built a new machine: Motherboard: SY-KT600 DRAGON PLUS v.1.0 - VIA KT600 / 8237 Chipset Processor: Athlon XP 2500+ 333Mhz FSB GPU: eVGA e-GeForce FX5700LE, 256MB DDR W/TV OUT , DVI, AGP Memory: Centon 512MB - 400Mhz DDR400 - Two (2) Fresh clean install of MDK 10. During the install, the installer doesn't even see my graphics card. It always wants to default to "vesa" I can't even get it to use "nv". Ran the install twice. Same thing. Anyway, I left the graphics driver to vesa driver, and boot to command prompt. Download and installed the latest nvida driver (no problem), vim'd the /etc/X11/XFree86-4 config file to match the readme file provided with the nvidia driver. Run startx and nothing. blank screen. I'm lost. Please help.!!!!! BTW: had an older HP Pavillion 500n reformatted drive(removed winxp) and installed MDK10. Went out, bought and older cheap-cheap GeForce 400mx PCI (no agp on board). Installed it, downloaded nvidia driver, installed kernel modules, ran nvidia driver (installed perfectly). vim'd XFree86-4 to spec, startx..... WOW worked first time. happiest newbie in the world . Fragin online with Enemy Territory.. NICE!!!!!! I would really love to frag with my new machine, cuz bought UT'04 and really, really, really want to play that. Thanks All, sorry 'bout the long post -SP
  14. I've downloaded / burned / installed MDK 10 C. I've noticed that everything is working great (and faster), but when I go out to the internet, I've noticed a drastic lag in querying web sites, and mozilla seems to take alot longer in rendering every page. I went out and downloaded FireFox, installed it, and seems to be a little better, but I still notice the difference. Anyone else see this or am I just going Loco!! -SP Edit: moved from Tips & Tricks by spinynorman
  15. I'm in the market to start looking for a 3D card for my Linux box at home. Really don't know what to buy. Any and all help would be greatly appreciated. BTW This would be my first rodeo, so looking for the easiest way to start playin these great games!! Thanx -SP
