  3. Hi there. I have on my computer Md2009.1. I updated the system and the kernel 2.6.29.6-desktop-586-1mnb was insatlled. After reboot the kernel doesn't start. I had to boot my comp with the old kernel 2.6.29.3-desktop586-1mnb there is something wrong with 2.6.29.6 or I missed something? thanks [moved from Installing Mandriva by spinynorman]
  4. Thanks scarecrow! I tried Md2009one but doesn't boot, all distros with kernel 2.6. doesn't boot (Mandriva one, Arch, TinyMe) I tried puppy too but it doesn't recognize my PCMCIA so I cannot networking. I'm still searching to bring up the interface I tried DSL but when I installed on HDD it destroyed my MBR so I have to reinstall Win and everything. This distro lacks in living with other OS on HDD. Finally Mdk9.2 was a reasonable choice. Now I have on my box Win98SE, Mdk9.2, Puppy4.2.1, FreeBSD7.2, but just for Win and Mdk I could bring up the network. For the others I'm still searching. After finding a solution I can compare them in term of speed and everything
  5. Thanks Greg2, I did cardctl suspend 0 and my PCMCIA stoped but when I reboot the same message: Shuting down loopback interface Stopping pcmcia: cardgr [707]: executing: './network stop eth0' unregistered_netdevice ...... ufff and I had to use again "reset" botton When booting the network interface is bring up before PCMCIA card, so bringing up network report [failed] and after pcmcia start the network is on. and Mandrake9.2 was the maximum that I can put on my old box any sugestions
  6. Hi there. I raised up with Mdk9.2 on my old computer Toshiba Tecra 510CDT (P1, 148MB ram, 40GB HDD). I have some problems with my PCMCIA card. When I stop the computer the servive cardmgr doesn't stop. It report: unregister_netdevice: waiting for eth0 to became free. Usage count =2 And because of that the system doesn't stop and I have to push the "reset" button. How can I solve that? thankx
  7. thanx Greg2, so it's better to install packages from there than to try to update the kernel to 2.6 and to install the latest packages?
  8. Hi there. I found an old laptop, Toshiba Tecra 510. The processor is Pentium I and 144MB memory and 40GB HDD. I succeed to install Mandrake 9.2 on it with X and blackbox as WM. Mdk9.2 has kernel 2.4 . can I update to 2.6.? It's a minimal install without MCC I want to install some software through urpmi, how can I add new media since my kernel is 2.4 tahnks
  9. Hi there I have 2 questions 1. Does anyone knows how to print odd or even pages in Okular? I used kpdf for reading pdf files but I found that now Okular is the default app for *.pdf 2. How to install apache22? In MCC > software management I search for "apache" and had a huuuge list. Which one to chose? Apache-base? I tried also # urpmi apache2 No package named apache2 The following packages contain apache2: moin-apache2, moin-apache2-unsafe You should use "-a" to use all of them I don't need moin-apache thanks
  10. Hi there. It seems I have problems all the time with adding media in a fresh installed Md. I just installed Md2009Spring and # urpmi.addmedia --distrib --mirrorlist 'http://api.mandriva.com/mirrors/basic.2009.0.i586.list' ...retrieving failed: aria2 failed: exited with 2 unable to access the distribution medium (no media.cfg file found) unable to add medium did I miss something thanks
