  1. What's a good program that draws mathematical functions on the screen, like y=x^2-8 and so on. Sys: Mandrake 10.1 Official
  2. Does anyone know a command or program for Mandrake 10.1, which can write/extract *.img-files to a floppy like RawWrite in Windows? I have a few floppy bootdisk images to be written to floppies, but don't have a software in Linux to do that... :( Can u guys help?
  3. I'm not a guru, but I added that line, and now it's up on every boot. In the wizard I had the load at boot option already enabled and no acpi too. Thanx again, guys!
  4. I have MDK 10.1 Official, Realtek RTL8139/810X network-card and ADSL-connection. My problem is that I have to set up my network every time when i boot or restart my computer. Once I define my connection in the Mandrake Control Center, Internet works fine, but when I boot, there's "No Connection" in the bottom bar and I cant go to net. But when I set up my network again, It works again. I here solution for this? I have tried to set up my connection as LAN and ADSL, but still the same problem. Re-installing the Mandrake doesn't help. Network works fine under Windows :( Please, help me. Dont wanna surf with Win :-( Edit: Typo [moved from Software by spinynorman]
  5. Hi, I've mandrake 10.0, kernel 2.4.25 because of hardware. I would need to get files from an RW-disk, which is in UDF-format. How can I get Mandrake to read the disk? By default it doesn't read it. ( The CD-driwe is rw-compatible ). Thnx!
  6. Hi, What are the system requirements for GNOME? I have Mandrake 10 and I would like to use it with GNOME, but my second PC is not very new. It has: P2@360 Mhz 192 SDRAM 6.5 G HD GeForce 4 I would use it to write documents, suft the net and ofcourse I would need to install firewall ( Firestarter ) on it. Does GNOME run on my pc how well?
  7. 1. My pc wont boot directly from mdk disk 1, even if I put bios to boot from cd first. 2. Yes, I checked then the sums and they all were correct. 3. My disk 2 contains those what you said: Boot/ media/ and boot.cat cdrom-changedisk.img I did my current Mandrake 10.1 Official bootfloppy from the "cdrom.img" which was located on disk 1.
  8. Doesn't work I did these two things: 1. I Booted from the floppy, pressed F1, and typed alt1. I tried this with disk 1 and disk 2 in the cdrom-drive, but with both times it said: Kernel image not found. 2. I inserterd disk 2 in, booted from the floppy, pressed enter like a normal installation, but it says that it's not the right disk inside, should be disk 1. 3. I started a normal istallation: floppy, disk 1. But when I select packages to install ( individual packages ) there's no option fot kernel 2.4. Anything to do?
  9. How can I choose 2.4 kernel instead of 2.6 in Mandrake 10.1 official installation? I have the boot disk ( cdrom.img ) and 3 installation cd's. I need that 2.4 kernel to get my network adapter to work. ( Had a topic in the Hardware ).
  10. Oh, what a newbie mistake Well, now I wrote that "lsmod" right, but I got this right after lsmod | grep de2104x: de2104x 18208 0 You said earlier that there shouldnt read anything after the lsmod. Still I continued typing modprobe de2104x and ifup eth0, but still comes that "determining IP information..." and that "error" after that which I wrote earlier and no acces to net
  11. I went to a console and I typed as a root: lsmod | grep de2104x but i get this: bash: Ismod: command not found But still I typed: ifup eth0 and i got this: Determining IP information for eth0....... --> and after a few moment I got this right after that " determining...": /sbin/ifup: line 466: 5190 Hangup /etc/init.d/tmdns reload >/dev/null 2>&1 I copied that fast on a paper and wrote that here. In that text above shouldnt be any spelling mistakes. I wrote that quite similarly that i got it to my console.
  12. Hi again. My modprobe.conf says: alias eth0 de2104x But still no working :(
  13. Sorry for the delay. I'm ogint to install MDK 10.1 Official with 2.6 kernel and I set it up as LAN. I'll check that modprobe file as soon as I get it installed and I'll copy it here.
  14. I checked harddrake and it says next: Decchip 21041 Tulip Pass 3 väylä: PCI väylä PCI #: 0 PCI laite: 11 PCI toiminto #: 0 Valmistajan tunnus: 4113 Laitetunnus: 20 Valmistajan alitunniste: 65535 Laitteen alitunniste: 65535 Moduuli: de2104x I'm sorry it's finnish, but it says that module is de2104x.
  15. Hi! I have an ethernet adapter called Decchip 21041 and I have serious problems with it. I have istalled Mandrake 10 several times and ONLY with kernel 2.4 I get the Internet work. Both 2.4 and 2.6 kernels indentify the card, but only 2.4 lets me to internet. I have got the internet work with 2.4 like this: I set up the internet as "LAN" and auto IP ( I have DHCP ). This I did in the Wizard which helped me to set up my network. However I did the very same thing with 2.6 Kernel, but it didint work. I tried all the other options in the wizard, like ppoe. But nothing helped. The card identified but no acces to the net. The module is tulip already after installation on MDK, but doesnt help. And when I go to console ( and shutted down the xfree ) and when I type that command which "gets" the IP, the whole pc crahses! I have tried this mostly with mandrake 10 and 10.1 official, but still issue with 2.6 kernel. Can you help me with my problem?
