  1. Sorry took so long to get back to this.. work / School is killing my time and me :P anyway I got it installed.. but I need a bigger usb drive... 1 gb isn't enough to do what I wanted to do.. but 2006 is very easy to install.. the installer sees the usb drive and gives the option of installing to it :) thanks for all the help. you guys rock as always
  2. Hi all.. Sorry if this has been asked elsewhere on this board.. but I couldn't find it.. so anyway, a FEW Versions back of Mandrake it used to throw Icons on my desktop when I would insert a CD into either one of my drives.. and used to throw an icon up for my USB drive.. but no longer does these things.??? I am using Mandriva 2006 PowerPack. is there a setting to get this back or is there some package I am missing to get this functionaliity back.. any help would be great [moved from Tips & Tricks by spinynorman]
  3. Great I will give that a shot.. As I do have the option to boot.. from usb :)
  4. Thanks to all for the replys.. you helped clear up some confusion.. I will probably try to play with another distro now.
  5. So do I just have to run a normal install? but tell it to use the usb drive? any info would be great :)
  6. did anyone see this post? I could really use the help.. as I don't turn up anything usefull when googling. Thanks in advance
  7. I have wanted to try R.H. or Mephis.... but have always wondered where to get the selection of wonderfull packages that are at P.L.F. ??? do they even exist for other distro's? because IMHO. it's the PLF stuff that makes linux truly viable as a "Simple User's Windoze Replacement" I am not talking about your poweruser.. I am talking about just someone who wants a system that works when it's supposed to and does what you need it to with minimal headache.
  8. Really??? I guess my noobness is showing again.. I didn't know this would be possible, as it would constantly need to be transported from machine to machine.. I didn't think it was able to re-configure it's self from computer to computer.. At any rate.. what's the procedure? Thanks again in advance.
  9. Hi all, Can someone shed some light on how to install MOVE on a USB drive? I have looked all over the net and even tried IRC but no body seems to know how to accomplish this.. either a good site on how to.. or please explain how to.. this would probably be-better since it could be a sticky here :) Thanks in advance..
  10. K.. Remember I am still a noob only been experimenting with Linux.. I can't seem to find the file you are refering to.. MDK 10.1 comes default with Xorg. and I am using KDE as desktop. Not too sure of where to find the config file. Can the seetings be modified Via the Control Center? Thanks! :)
  11. * De-lurk * Hi all I just joined here.... In hopes that I can find some help ? First off I have a Brand spanking new 19" CRT monitor, I have been running Linux off and on for several years.. I think my first experience was with RH. 6.X Then I discovered MDK and have been here ever since. On all my other monitors font sizes seemed ok everything was pretty read able. without squinting. This new monitor it seems tho as I can adjust Screen Size to a point and that helps.. right now I am at 1024 x768 as mentioned I don't have to squint too badly to read what is going on but upon re-booting MDK wants to re-set my screen resolution to 1280 x 1024 Needless to say it's "SQUINT" City. My Refresh rate is.85 hz. I can set my system fonts to BIG and the Folder Sizes to BIG... but then things look messed up.. and changeing to 800 x 600 res. makes things run off the screen Tho everything is nice and read able.. at that point.. Am I going about this all wrong.. or am I simply missing a config somewhere.????? Any Help would be great. OldToker
