I would appreciate any suggestions about this. It is quite important for those who can't get onto some sites (facebook for example) OpenDNS is a solution but I'm at a loss how to setup up Wi-Fi network to use OpenDNS or some other DNS.

I had posted something about Network settup on a small blog of mine http://ourlinux.wordpress.com/2009/12/05/mandriva-2010-0-network-setting/ but when my friend pointed out she can no longer access facebook I investigated. I've :wall: here an old discussion thread had no solution for us http://www.linuxquestions.org/questions/mandriva-30/override-system-dns-settings-721764/

I tried this advice here http://expert.mandriva.com/question/49896 combined with elements of this advice here http://forum.eeeuser.com/viewtopic.php?id=43824

my friend has the laptop (eeepc) and i am miles away being her only source of help.

thanks in advance

Thanks very much for your suggestions. My friend didn't scroll down far enough and missed the check mark lower down the Network Settings window. This evening she scrolled all the way down and unchecked "Get DNS from DHCP" and entered DNS servers. There was no need to tweak anything.

Find it from System > Administration > Configure your Computer > Network and Internet > Network Center > (Wireless (Wi-Fi) , Configure then scroll to the bottom. She sent me a screenshot and I posted it at http://ourlinux.wordpress.com/2009/12/05/mandriva-2010-0-network-setting/
