Guest iMonkey
Hello everybody I have just revived a dated PC and installed MDK 8.2 on it, it is a little on the slow side but not too bad for what I want to use it for. I am currently experiencing a problem when I shut the box down during one of the last phases I get the following error message which halts the machine and it no longer continues to shutdown. /etc/rc0.d/s01 halt: line 1: 10129 Segmentation Fault halt -i -d -p I have been assuming that this is because the hard drive may be corrupt/damaged but by looking at the error it suggests a problem with a file? My knowledge of Linux is still in its infancy hence I dont really where to start looking to solve the problem Any help will be much appreciated! Steve Scrimpshire
Try to reinstall initscripts. I think they are on disk 1. Let's say you inserted the disk and mounted it on /mnt/cdrom rpm -ivh --replacepkgs --replacefiles /mnt/cdrom/Mandrake/RPMS/initscripts(you can just hit the TAB button here for it to finish it for you) You can't uninstall and then reinstall, because initscripts are a vital part of the OS and MDK won't let you uninstall them. If you can't find them on your disk, or whatever, you can always open Mandrake Control Center and go to Software -> Mandrake Update and see if there is an update available for it, too.
