i have 2 hard drives, one for windows, another linux (mandriva 2009 One). The computer is connected to the Internet at windows, but i don't know the password for connection (so i cant get internet to work at linux). Is it possible to get inet working? I've been told that i should somehow configure linux to use DHCP (which Windows calls "Assign IP address automatically"), but how?

by default, Mandriva should be doing DHCP. You can check your setup through the Mandriva Control Center (AKA Configure your computer), under Networking/Internet.

you may need to set up PPPOE or similar to log on, but as Bergen said, we need to know how you connect to the internet to determine that. personally, i've always found the best solution to be to setup a cable/dsl router for high-speed internet access, not only to simplify the process of getting computers connected, but also for the added security.
