Guest psk Posted March 9, 2007 Report Share Posted March 9, 2007 hai, I installed mandrake 10.1 yesterday on PC but my sound card has not been detected.My mother board is ASUS A8N-VM and its audio support is MCP51 HD audio,i tried to install several sound driver but none of them worked .I previously had suse 10.1 on my PC and sound was detected without any problems .I am using mandrake for the first time .Is there any way to configure sound ? scarecrow Posted March 10, 2007 Report Share Posted March 10, 2007 (edited) You can also do with Mandrake 10.1, but you must compile and install for it alsa version 1.09 at least- else the nvidia HD audio chip is either not recognized at all, or will be badly configured by older alsa versions. You can also leave your alsa as-it-is, and use the proprietary nvidia audio driver for that chip. This one is not "free" software, and so it was not included in Mandriva 10.1 - but it's fairly easy to find it, and compilation isn't difficult.
