2006 - xorg problem [solved]

I downloaded the free 2006 install disk, and found that xorg gives an error on install, so no gui.

Downloaded some xorg-x11-blah rpms from SeerofSouls website that should fix this problem by installing later, but they require depencencies such as:

libxorg-x11 = 6.9.0

X11-libs = 6.9.0

libXau.so.6

libXdmc0.so.6

Is there a downloadable xorg made for mandriva 2006 that would fit without driving me crazy with dependancy issues?

Or anyway of solving this problelm?

BTW I'm on dialup.

The xorg I downloaded is:

First, you should go for the updates from Mandriva. The rpms that you are looking at are require several depends from the same site. They are special.

But, while the xorg rpms were updated, I never had an issue with them. What exactly was the problem? What video card do you have?

So it may have been a bad burn or a bad download. Try this: download the specific xorg rpms from Mandriva and then let the cd/dvd satisfy the depends. Do you remember which one failed? It may have been the only bad one and the rest are fine.

I used urpmi and got xorg installed, it has the mouse error, so no scrolling.

When I did an update using the install CD1, the error now was "Your Xorg configuration file is broken, we will ignore it."

Anyway, it works well enough so that it I'm using now in Konqueror, can't install Opera due missing libstdc*

Fix that later.

Thanks for the help
