osakasan
What does this mean when it is displayed in MCC? Does this mean it did not find it, therefore is not connected and cn't be use? Edited September 21, 2005 by osakasan
scarecrow
It means that the system does not "know" the device, so no module has been loaded for it and the user has to load one manually, if he wants the device being usable. osakasan
So what do you mean module?, What if I can't find the module. My Webcam seem to be working and identified, but yet it listed as a Unknow Device.

My Webcam seem to be working and identified, but yet it listed as a Unknow Device. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I can't say for sure, but I bet this just means that the system could not identify the PCI ID for that device in its list of known PCI Device IDs. See this for more info on PCI Device IDs that the system knows about: https://mandrivausers.org/index.php?showtop...ndpost&p=197714
osakasan
All of the Unknown Devices as indicated from MCC is all USB devices. My Webcam, printer, and TV board are all USB devices. I think only the WEBCAM is okay. I could get photos directly from this camera.
osakasan
I still can't get the DELL A920 printer to work. Tried everything that was given to me. I think it is because to is recognize as UNKNOWN Device, so until it gets recongnized, Mandriva will not see this. This is a USB printer, Any more ideas gang? scarecrow
This is a USB printer, Any more ideas gang? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Dell does not make printers- just stamps OEM products... this one is actually a Lexmark, and it's not a printer, but rather a very basic AIO machine. Lexmark offers lousy Linux support (as always), so you are either out of luck, or you might try Turboprint, which offers some basics for Lexmark printers. I'm not too confident that the scanner part will work, though- but after all, you get what you pay for.
