Guest raven_willow
Hi, I'm a bit of a newbie with Linux, although I am somewhat familiar due to usage of DamnSmall and Flonix livecd distros. I just installed Mandrake 9 for the first time a few days ago. Everything else has been fine except for the cdrom. Little beknownst to me did I know it is a picky cdrom under Linux. I put in a mp3 cd burned under Win Xp in Roxio Easy cd creator and it gave me the message "sorry could not display all contents of cdrom" I also put in the Mandrake cd with the same result then tried a music data cd burned under Nero burning software (by a friend long ago) and it displayed the contents of that cd. Is it the cdrom drive or could it be Mandrake? If it's the drive, I'll just buy another soon but as far as Linux, I hope to be getting Mandrake 10 in the mail soon to upgrade. What do you all think? Thanks everyone :) ps - the cds will read under windows for some reason not in linux :( Edited August 4, 2004 by raven_willow
Gowator
Although some funny non ISO9660 formats can exist that potentially might not be readable it sounds liike a HW problem .... Make sure you have filesystem support etc. for different types (joliet etc.) but I expect its just the drive...
