Guest vampire
hi every body I tried to install Mandriva 2010 on my (MSI cx620) laptop , the installation operation completed successfully , but when i restart the computer and boot on linux , many words on a black background appeared and disappeared quickly , and the screen remained black for unlimited time without any sign confirm's that the system is working . I don't know what is the problem here , but i think its a drivers problem . these are my laptop's specifications :- Processor : intel core i3 (2.13) GH Ram : 2 GB DDR3 Vga : intel graphics chip ... and ATI Radeon HD5470 ... with ATI Switchable Graphics technology Hard disk : 300 GB SATA regards
AussieJohn
Hello vampire, and a big warm welcome to MUB. I am not sure that it would be a driver problem since your Machine is not very old and not excessively new. I would suggest that you may have a defective burned Disc. Try burning a new disc but be certain to do it at the SLOWEST speed available and check it against the Checksum. Then let us know if that makes a difference. Cheers. John. speedball2
Hi, When at the black screen could you try pressing Ctrl+Alt+F12 and seeing if any log output is there. Might help you if there is. Or try Ctrl+Alt+F1 and see if you get a login screen.
Kieth
I had the same problem. I had to go to MCC and "test" my video driver. After that, it would work until the next boot. By disabling desk top effects in "configure your desktop", that problem was resolved. Kieth
